Racy Red in answer to your question. I really wanted to complete on the 9th, the day I arrived back in the UK, so I could have the house for my whole leave. Sellors wanted to exchange on the 19th, we met in the middle on the 16th. I was kinda disappointed especially as I only get 4 weeks leave, but I can get things moving in the week, gas electric broadband etc

Ahhh I just wanna come home and get into the house instead of all this worky work!!! Oh well i guess the work pays for the house.......

If you are unsure just ask your sol if there is anything else... Im constantly asking what x means and what I have to do next!

Got my second viewing of my number 1 house tomorrow (I didn't think EAs would be working the Bank Holiday but I'm told it's one of their busiest days of the year). I'm a single FTB so taking a friend along for a second opinion.

If all goes well I'm still undecided about whether to make a cheeky first offer. or something more realistic. the EA says there has been a few viewings so far but no offers. It has been on the market for 3 months and the asking price has already dropped £8k. The vendor wants to sell up in order to move to Spain and I have no chain behind me. We are perfectly matched!

I have another couple of places which look interesting - plus there are to be sure more places coming on the market in the next few weeks.

I appointed a solicitor today. They weren't the cheapest quote but replied to some emailed questions within a few hours and I really liked their attitude.

I've also got a few possible mortgages lined up with my IFA (she's wonderful) but will leave the final decision until a price is agreed and I decide how much deposit to put down (looking for a min of 25%)

So fingers crossed for tomorrow. I have a god vibe for this place - but I'm really trying not to fall in love with it.

Went up to our new house last weekend to take measurements, and signed the mortgage security papers at my solicitor's office today. Picking up the keys in exactly 21 days now! :)

Just back from my second viewing. I noticed a few things that I hadn't on the first visit - but nothing serious or needing immediate attention - just a few longer term projects.

Time to do some thinking over the weekend....

    Hi all,

After 3 aborted house purchases and plenty of delays, I'm finally nearly reaching the end of the tunnel - moving into a fantastic house at the middle of this month. I never realised how stressful and how long the process would be...

Quick question - when do I pay my first mortgage payment if I move in during the middle of a month? Does anyone know?

MMG, im pretty sure it could be 6 weeks after you move in, often the first one is more than normal as its more than a month, ie they wont take a payment for 2 weeks by itself.

I havent explained that very well but i hope you my idea

    Excellent, thanks for the help!

Will have to budget for an extra 50% of a mortgage payment then!

    Hello buyers,

I've not posted on this thread before...I was on the seller's thread a couple of years ago, though.

I just wanted to...moan, basically! I'm in rented, have a 25% deposit and have just had my best & final offer rejected (it was 97% of the asking price) and told that the vendor wants something within £1k/£2k of asking.

I fully understand wanting to get the most money out of your buyer and I fully understand being able to hold out if you don't 'need' to sell, but...arrrrgh! Agent kept saying 'well it has been reduced once, already' - like that is relevant! It was reduced because it was overpriced, so it's not like I need to take that into account at all.

    I'm annoyed!

    Thanks for listening!

I recently had an offer on my flat and the buyers had a second viewing (will be 2 weeks at the end of this week) before confirming their offer. How long did it take you guys as buyers to arrange a survey after offer was accepted? Thanks
