good luck doshwaster! Its such an amazing feeling once you're in.

Just got back from my first look around *my* house. It's rather odd seeing it all empty but I thought I would take some time to enjoy the emptiness before I start moving stuff in - I'm sure the house is going to be chaos for the next few weeks. The previous owners left the house in pretty good condition and even left some toilet roll behind - bless them.

The only problem is that I've looked low and high and cannot find the gas or electric meters anywhere. The previous owner must have camoflaged them really well!

Nice one Doshwaster :) Good luck with the unpacking, I just spent 2 ful days taking kitchen stuff out of newspaper and washing it all before I could put it away. Done at last! (well, almost... :o)
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

It’s exciting reading these posts about people finally being able to move into their home. Hopefully, OH and I will be in the same position shortly.

We had an offer accepted on 18th May, and it mostly seems to be a waiting game, with little bits of info trickling in each week.

So far, we have been told that the solicitor’s have received the draft contract, and are commencing searches. We are still waiting for a formal mortgage offer, though we had a credit checked AIP. We have had the survey done, but they couldn’t take payment from my card, so I think this is what is holding it up. I gave them new card details last week, but still no payment has been taken, so I will have to chase them this week. :(

It's only been just under 4 weeks since we had our offer accepted, but I'm so impatient to get in there! :o I know things can still go wrong, and I shouldn't be getting so excited, but I really can't help it! :rotfl:

Well I'm sitting here awaiting a call from my solicitor confirming that Natwest will released my funds so we can complete on Thursday! It will be exactly three months since I had my offer accepted! The good thing about that is I have three extra months of savings so my bank account wont be totally empty :j

I'm feeling a bit stressed now its coming down to it - got to sort house insurance and the audit trail for my deposit - being a moneysaver its been around the block a bit! But lots of friends and family have offered to help me move so at least I wont be doing it all by myself :)

Congratulations on those who have completed their house buying and moved in - how exciting!

Feeling very frustrated today - we completed our flat sale last monday and were pushing to exchange on our purchase which we had been informed was on track to go through for mid-June.

However it turns out that the vendors purchase hasn't even got off the ground yet, their vendors haven't officially instructed solicitors and no contracts or anything have been sorted! So there's no way we can exchange in the next couple of weeks as we had hoped and it seems that it'll take a couple of months from now... :(

It's very frustrating as we're now essentially cash buyers (mortgage offer sorted and signed, cash in solicitors account from the sale of our flat) and as far as we're concerned ready to exchange and complete our purchase so we can finally settle down after 6 months of disruption, then to be told we have to wait another 2 months when it's not our fault is almost too much to cope with!

Grrr.... I feel for our vendors too as they are moving to a larger house and presumably just as keen as we are to get in and settle down again. ah well... looks like another week of carrying my phone around constantly waiting for some news. We've suggested that the vendors may like to move into rented accommodation (as we have had to) in order to allow the sale to proceed, but don't know the outcome of this yet.

good luck to all buyers, lets hope some of us get there this week! :)

Having completed last week, can I just say: Decorating seems never ending. Paint one thing, the thing next to it looks dirty.. paint the thing next to it...... never ending.
