Oh my god its time for another rant!!
It is now 8 weeks since I had my offer accepted. I'm a FTB so no sale to sort. The vendor keeps asking questions via the EA for some reason instead of the solicitor, and also answering queries from my solicitor via the EA. I find this very annoying!
Yesterday I got a voicemail from the EA saying the vendor is concerned because I have raised more queries and when are my contractors going to attend to quote on work to be done. I've had to email back stating that the queries were raised weeks ago, and some older queries have still not been answered, the vendor's solicitor has said they've lost post and letters have had to be resent, and I can't get contractors to go until they formally reply to one query.
She has replied saying the vendor is not impressed with his solicitor, they have been answering queries immediately when they are passed on but it doesn't seem they've been in a rush to pass them on! So we all kissed and made up and reaffirmed our committment to the process!! Honestly! I've said before I hate having to go through the solicitors for every little thing, and its all broken down - I'm now having to feed the EA information just to make sure the vendor's solicitor is bothering to tell them anything! I'm hoping to be in within the next few weeks now that he is addressing the communication problems. Ah! Stressful. Rant Over!NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

Good luck Racy.. hope it goes smoothly now.
We're just 2 days away from completion now and starting to panic a bit. The mortgage is ready to draw down (again) tomorrow and we've transferred the rest of our funds on Monday - had hoped to do BACS and not pay another charge but online won't let you do more than £5k, telephone is only £10k and when OH went to the branch to try it seems that HSBC have actually stopped doing it at all - ended up then having to argue with them about how much the transfer fee should be - both accounts are HSBC so there's a slightly smaller fee which seems to vary day to day and who you speak to (money for nothing aaaargh!) Still at least all funds are now in place.
We tried to call EA yesterday to check what time our vendors are planning to be out - last thing I want to do is turn up and them still be packing. Some squirt tries to fob us off by saying the time should be on the contracts but as I tried to explain its never that simple. All I want to do is check that they're on schedule and that we're not going to clash removals. At least the bulk of it is going to be done on Bank Holiday Monday.
And then last but not least we have some paperwork that needs signing - 3days before completion!!! and it has to be originals and witnessed. Why she couldn't have done this 3 weeks ago after exchange is beyond me. OH had to bike it to the Sol yesterday to pick them up rather than risk the post and we found a friend who was around at 11pm to witness at which point we see that the Land Registry forms have 4 mistakes.... 3 spelling of OH's name (which is astonishing given that its a very simple English name) and my maiden name on page one but my married name on the signature place! OH is checking with Sol this morning if this is going to be a problem - I rather suspect we'll be badgering our friend again tonight.
AAARGH!! rant over - only 48-56 hours to go
Good luck allteam yellow

Arrrgh Forumgrazer, there is always something.
I completed today, it all went so smoothly that I'm still shell-shocked. I can't believe it has all been done!
Although the house is in pretty good nick, as is always the case I need to do a mega cleaning and sprucing up of the decorating session before all my stuff comes out of storage.
Good luck to everyone, especially those still tearing your hair out. It does come right in the end sometimesMy first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Congrats Racy.
Our exchange was delayed. After having a nightmare trying to get ourselves sorted with the structural issues and funding on our purchase we were reay b our sellers deadline, Just. Their solicitor left early. Then today, we found had having imposed a tight deadling on us, THEY haven't signed their paper work.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow. DH is taring his hair out, for him this is ''the'' one, so I'm really hoping it goes smoothly from now on. ur completion date isn't so very far away and I can't start to think about services etc till exchange so...I'm worried there will be issues there too.0 -
at last we're in!!!
after 4 frantic hours where we don't know whats going on OH finally gets through to Sol who says oh yes we completed ages ago didn't I tell you?
still OH is now in cleaning and sorting through the junk that they've left behind... not quite as bad as in Nightmare! thread
At least one good thing is that we have wifi through our management charges so OH is now able to communicate with the outside world. Now we have to finish all our change of address and utilities purchases mmmm
Hope everyone has a good BH and good luck ! - we're driving away from new home tonight to go to a wedding so first night will be on Monday but at least we get a takeaway tonight :jteam yellow

It's Completion Day for me :j
I'm just sitting around surrounded by half-packed boxes waiting for the call from my solicitor to confirm the money has all gone through and to say that she has the keys.0 -
good luck doshwaster! Its such an amazing feeling once you're in.
Had 3 nights in our new home now and can't get over how nice it is to have all our belongings in one place again - even if I've also inherited half of Mum's garage in the process. Yesterday morning was fun with no hot water for showers as I'd forgotten to turn the boiler back on after the weekend. Still all works fine and we set the timers yesterday - now to find the thermostat so that we don't pay for scalding water. Also had to run the gauntlet of new phone contracts... why oh why did prev owners deactivate the line - this gives us much less choice as not every company can reactivate. Still lots of little things to do - time to write a list!
Good luck everyone - hopefully it'll all work out in the end :beer:team yellow
