God where to begin
I hve tried making meal planners but they dont always work out what with the babys sleeping habits or OH work hours the food often tends to change. But I was only yhinking today about how I am fed up with trowing food out.
This week I threw out a pack of sausages that I realised were past their date, half a bottle of milk that smelt iffy, some babanas that went black, some cherry tomatoes that went srively, and their is a chicken breast that I think needs to be chucked when OH defrosted too much for a curry.
Problem is the freezer is jam packed with stuff for the kids so there was little room in there. Its a shame really becase OH work messed up his wages and gave him £30  I had a tenner to feed a family of four, so its frosties for tea for me all weekWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

oOMiaOo wrote:Great thread - I used to throw away tons. Since starting my money saving offensive, I'm pleased to say I have only thrown out the remains of one bag of parsley. But I did feel really guilty coz I should have chopped it & frozen it! The effect the DFW boards have on you...:rotfl:
Only so much parsley you can freeze.... and only so many uses for breadcrums - reckon I could make a couple of loaves out of what I have! Every time I have bread left over I've been crumbing it with diff mixtures of herbs & spices - all I need now are another 50 uses for them & I'll be well away, either that or birds will think I've gone all posh!!!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Nothing wasted in my house. With me & 3 teenagers the fridge is like one of those cartoons when ants or whatever consume everything in seconds. It's looking sadly neglected at the moment.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

I threw out a lemon, some rice I cooked for OH but he didn't feel hungry (chemo kicking in), some old onions - which I had grown myself last year, so only effort wasted.
Oh, and half a gallon of orange squash left by the children in various places around the house!
ps use for breadcrumbs. Use them 50/50 with coconut in a pastry case. Pour on Golden Syrup. Cook to make a coconut tart. Also works with Weetabix. Not the healthiest of puddings but quick and easy in an emergency.;)

I've thrown out uneaten too runny rice pudding, most of the chilli i made for dinner last night, apples past their best, pears also, bananas blackened, milk shake powder several years old, uneaten pasta, uneaten rice, vegetables left over from roast, half a loaf gone too solid for bread & butter pudding, a tub of plain yoghurt (large) past its useby date, a two week old pack of peaches in the fridge, half a bowl of tuna, two mildewed rolls from my sons lunchbox, thats just for starters. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
