Last night I went home to find out that our freezer had defrosted (of its own accord!) and OH had chucked out chicken burgers and chicken nuggets! (bit manky!) anything else that is going to be thrown out usually goes to the dogs! so not really waste!

The only measure I have been able to take so far is trying to stop people taking just a bit of a pepper for a salad and then leaving the remainder in the fridge to rot while starting on anew pepper next time!

Peppers seem to be a recurring theme. If I find myself using half a pepper or are away for a weekend and worried that the veg will go off, I slice up the whole pepper and open freeze it - adding it to a bag of mixed sliced peppers which I then use when I cook bolognaise, etc. They freeze well and it stops me throwing them away.

I even ate a frozen sweet and sour chicken meal (still in date) last night that my OH has had in his freezer since before we got together and it was minging! It had been driving me mad that it was taking up so much room in the tiny freezer. Its the last time I eat another frozen instant meal.

    Stuff thrown away this week:

    - half pint of milk (my OH doesn't drink milk much and I work away most mid-weeks so we usually use 1 and a half pints of a 2 pinter)
    - half portion of HM chilli con carne that I couldn't face eating for lunch (!)
    - smidgen of double cream that I should have thought of using in my coffee
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

OK folks, in these hard times I reckon we should resurrect this :o.

This week I've thrown out around 100 Asda Earl Grey teabags at least 3 yrs out of date :o (did try them but tasteless).

1 ready liquidised cucumber  and 3 spring onions .

I too threw away a cucumber that was only in one piece due to it's wrapping.

My son's nutella sandwiches that had been in his lunchbox since Friday, I normally give old sandwiches to the dogs, but it was chocolate so couldn't.

The last spoonful of potato salad which had gone fizzy.

We have angel delight in the cupboard that is 4 years old..... I'm not scared;) .

Plus I always recycle all the food and packaging!:A

The only things i tend to throw now, are bits of fruit or veg that have gone mouldy, and they go straight in the compost!!!!

I usually do but I'm still waiting for a digger to remove rose bush roots where the veg plot is going to be and have run out of room to make compost. I bagged a load in late summer thinking the digger man was coming.
