those people who have had payouts should be made to repay.

Seriously? Even though the banks claimed it was purely a "goodwill gesture"? Good luck with that.

in every bank there are hundreds of leafelts on display, all produced, printed and delivered a t a huge cost, why dont we all go into banks and remove all leaflets for recycling? we will be punishing the banks to a small degree, and doing our bit for the environment
im gonna go stand out side ,my bank and do a protest any on want to join
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you
  • How on earth can a court rule that Bank charges don't have to be fair?

We as the british public have been plunged into record debt to bail these morons out!! and for our efforts are going to be met with public spending cuts no matter who gets in next year leading to more unemployment!!

I have never voted in my entire life at the age of 32 which is pretty disgusting, but i have always thought they were all the same, however either the conservatives, labour or the Lib Dems have an excellent oppurtunity to win the next election and step forward now and force these banks that are still taking our money to survive to pay back the money they have been taking or else public funding will be removed, and they can have their toxic debt back.

If they don't have to be fair why should i with mine and my childrens future in this country???????????????????

We are supposed to live in a democracy but has anyone had a say on what is going on?? i knwo i haven't
  • is there anything now to stop us filing local court claims?

meaning if you went over drawn by sya 3p and they charged you 35 pounds for it and then charged 35 pounds on top of that then that is deemed unfair to the tru value of cost to the bank

cause it doesnt cost them £67.93 to pay back your 3p

So is my claim still valid then as my claim letter from 2007 states the charges incurred do not represent true costs to bank:o

Looks like you would loose, its been quoted as being fare.
  • dont protest outside the bank, it wont make a difference, hit them by removing leaflets etc seriously they cost a fortune including the delivery. i occasionally get protesters outside our shop (high street retailer) when they dont get their own way, we actually do mor emoney when this happens so i guess banks may not be affetced also, im going to every local bank and helping myself topromo leafelts

I had sign up again as my original login got boshed. I've posted here many thousands of times. It was, however, a pleasure to re-register in order to express my pleasure at this decision. I'm sorry if a contradictory point of view grates with you but that's just too bad.
  • the more i look at this case, the more i think we are over reacting, this is only one avenue that has been closed, there are other avenues aren't there? also, i am going to write to the local parliament memebr for each party, the first to rpely with a guarantee to help gets my vote
  • This is excellent news! This is a victory for those of us who manage our accounts properly and don't want to have to pay charges in order to pay for those who seem to want to treat the banks as a source of free money.

That's Martin Lewis's reputation hit for six as well. He'd built a whole career on this and it's now gone up in smoke.

I don't think the reputation of Martin Lewis has been hit for six - if that's your view, perhaps you should consider expressing it somewhere other than his website.....

I am grateful for the way he has stood up for the general public, who else is prepared to do that?

This decision is disappointing obviously. But just because I have been awaiting a payout for charges doesn't mean I have the inability to manage my finances - you know nothing about peoples circumstances at all.
