So is my claim still valid then as my claim letter from 2007 states the charges incurred do not represent true costs to bank:o
i belive so ive just read the supreme courts press release and it seems to give that info
it also states that it ahs not decided whether or not the current chargres are fair or not that decision is down to the oft
it simply states that "charges" are fair to penalize those who go over drawn etcReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
So how much of our hard earned cash has the bank paid to the law lords? Quite a lot. Seems this should be investigated.0

I for one don't mind being charged for being overdrawn, it's the amount and how quickly they charge you more for not paying it that day.catch220 -
I'm gutted, I was expecting a payout of about £2,600. Is this definately over or is there still a chance of getting my money back?
Does anyone else think that the banks have paid off the supreme court? If I was the one deciding if bank charges were fair or not and someone offered me 10 million to go in the banks favour I'm pretty sure I would take the money.
I smell corruption......
I'm sure someone will be along to say that's a dangerous comment but I'm sure many others have had that thought cross their mind if only briefly.
How when the High Court & the Court of Appeal were so clear could the Supreme Court go the other way with a similar level of clarity?
What the Supreme Court are effectively saying is that the High Court and Court of Appeal were wrong... how's that going to go down?
I hope for the sake of the many reclaimers (including those who are yet to reclaim) and those in real need out there that the various consumer groups and MSE find a way around this and treat it as just another stepping stone in the process of helping the vulnerable in our society.0 -

i may be being thick here but surely the ruling was that the OFT cant do it, but we can still do it? What we need is a massive class action.0

but it said it will alow the oft to decide whether the charges are fair or not through a different avenueReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. I couldn't agree more... at the time when I needed most help, when I was losing my house (which I eventually did) Halifax were no help to me, I was lucky enough to get some charges abck but over last 2 years.. well....
I know I've been charged over £300 in last 4 months alone.
I will persue my claim of amounts charged not proportionate..
good luck to those in same position..0 -

Exactly. If someone has a cashflow problem and gets immediately slapped with a charge and then an additional charge everyday until its paid off - its not exactly helping them sort out their cashflow problem is it?
Its a tax on the poor - the poor get poorer and the rich get richer (i.e. free banking).0
