I went over drawn on the last day of the month. I went over drawn by £2.44. I got charged £38 for it. Then, as this happened over night, I was overdrawn on the 1st of the next month. Again, I was charged £38! It's just rediculous! Right. Let's all stop moaning about this and start coming up with a new plan of action?! :beer:What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

The Hallowed Way is entitled to his/her opinion; just because you don't agree with it is no reason to get his/her posts deleted.
The reason I got barred before was that I simply expressed an opinion which was contrary to someone else's. Unfortunately immature individuals like jamespir can't deal with that so go crying to teacher whenever something doesn't suit. It's pathetic really.0 -
Quite frankly, I find that very hard to believe.Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. Those who are suggesting that Lord Phillips et al are corrupt should really think before they post such statements. Such statements are potentially libellous, and go completely against the ethos of MSE.
It is clear from posts prior to 9.45am that many people thought that the OFT winning the case was a foregone conclusion. Unfortunately for these people, they were quite misguided.Gone ... or have I?0 -

The battle has been lost, get on with it.
The point here is that the decision has gone in completely the other direction to previous decisions.
I don't think there's anything dodgy in terms of the result but it is somewhat puzzling. Only when the Judgement has been looked at properly will we be able to understand the reason the High Court and Court of Appeal were wrong.0 -
To be expected.
The Supreme Court has twelve justices that make the decisions, all of them algined to various parts of the judicial system and public sector previously. They are charged with making a decision that in the current financial means the government would be the people paying out here. So the government found in favour of the government.
Then we can look at the two non-executive Directors. One was the Chief Executive, International Banking at Barclays until recently, the other worked at the FSA, where he has held a number of director roles in Finance, Communications, Banking Supervision, Authorisation and latterly Financial Crime and Intelligence. So one is ex-banking and the other is ex-FSA (the body that didn't bother enforcing their own loose regulations that lead to the current mess).
This result is of no suprise whatsoever, it is nepotism operating in it's truest form.
Disgusting is the word I can think that fits.0 -

This will alienate even further the Banks and consumer, Bankers are a bunch of greedy w$$$$ers who gamble our money and created a global crisis not seen since the 30's and they then got bailed out by the tax payers and now they are off again creating new financial instruments than many don't understand, get ready for a big slump in 2010, more bubbles are being created all over the world right now!
At least they are being hit big time with all those dodgy lending agreements which are being proved unenforceable!
You do wonder with £10 Billion at stake whether some palms may have been subtly greased!0
