Well that's a surprise... They may as well put the charges up now as they seem to have been given a free reign, again.

  • I just cant understand how this is fair. Its our bloody money thats keeping these bankers in jobs. I cant tell you how angry i am.

Also this money that keeps free banking for everyone so it should stop the people in credit bleating that it is our fault that the banks may charge for bank accounts. They can continue to get it for free while everyone else pays it for them

this is how banks work they took our money and then got into trouble so the goverment gave them our money to help them out then the goverment had trouble so they again took our money to pay back our money to the bank who took our money

now theyre gonna tax us all
so gonna thyre gonna take out money to pay back our money to the bank who took our money ridiculous isnt it

  • Im a bit confused as guy on sky news said if your claim is stateing that the charges incurred did not represent true value of costs incurred by bank then claims are still valid?????
  • i agree with the argument that people should manage their accounts, but a genuine error on an exchange rate calcualtion got us overdrawn by £38 with lloyds, then they charges more and more until we got back and had charges of over 200 by the itme we gotback, that is just ridiculous, why cant a bank open that charges a tenner a month, pays no interest on current account balances but has uk call centres that actually help you, i would gladly pay for that

This is excellent news! This is a victory for those of us who manage our accounts properly and don't want to have to pay charges in order to pay for the !!!!less and innumerate who seem to want to treat the banks as a source of free money.

That's Martin Lewis's reputation hit for six as well. He'd built a whole career on this and it's now gone up in smoke.

you signed up just to post that the doors that way

Can the likes of you smug gits not get it into your heads? The majority of use "!!!less and innumerate" accept we should pay charges. It's just that we don't see why we should pay the exorbitant, and unjustifiable amounts. I think it has been proved time and time again that it can in no way cost a bank £35 to sent out an automated letter when someone incurs a charge. They have made massive profits out of people who are struggling.

By all means, they should have their costs covered, but not make profits on the back of it.
  • who would have thought that the terms people signed upto would be proven to be legal.

I for one am glad that I can continue to receive my free banking.

Why should I be penalized for other peoples ineptitude to manage their finances.
