But that's just the Aspie coming out in me
No, that's just the idiot coming out in you.
Trying to sound humorous - but all you've managed is to sound ignorant."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Let me be clearer then.
I don't think it's OK to call people thick because they work in a shop.
I know she meant no offence to the OP but when everyone is busy being offended by the foolish remark made by a shop assistant then surely someone saying that all people who work in shops are thick is just as bad.
Anyway, I'm all 'offended' out for today.
Did you email the shop OP? Any response?

I am writing on behalf of ******* to express our sincere apologies for the disappointment you experienced during your visit to our Christmas Grotto.
We would like to express our deep regret that your visit failed to meet the highest standards that we, and our customers, expect here at *******.
Please be assured that we have taken your feedback very seriously. The conversation you have described is indeed unacceptable, and falls far short of the high standards we expect of ******* staff. All of our grotto staff members have been advised of the incident, and counselled accordingly.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Though we are disappointed that your family witnessed such an incident, we are glad that we have been able to act, to prevent such a conversation taking place again.
Once again, I must express our deep regret that your visit to the Christmas Grotto was tainted by the incident.
We look forward to welcoming your family to the Christmas Grotto again next year, and would like to wish you and your family a safe and merry ChristmasMember of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -

Ironically, when a child is behaving badly the parent does generally blame it on some disorder or other.....3_cheeky_princesses wrote: »Received this email back: All of our grotto staff members have been advised of the incident, and counselled accordingly...
Rough translation...staff were told someone had made a complaint and to be more careful in future. Staff will grumble and continue to !!!!!.0 -

Yes, at best it was unprofessional, but frankly I have heard much worse.
The problem with people who complain about remarks like the one you describe, made in passing with no intent to offend is that it becomes impossible to say anything, even something nice for fear of offending, and the world becomes a very bland uniform place.
And in any case, how do you know he wasn't autistic...I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
