  • Hi,

Has anyone managed to find a Multi-region hack that works?

I tried the ones mention in this post from DVD Reviewer and Videohelp and neither worked for me.

    Thanks.

    Paulina.

I'll let you know if mine ever turns up.

My credit card was charged £61.74 () a week ago and, after ringing up, I have been told delivery will be this week.
  • got ours the other day, it's not to shabby I gotta say.

so long as your prepared (ie give yourself 1 min to get the disc spin up before you need to record), and you remember to format RW's in advance, it's perfectly acceptable for one touch recording.

and the way the little display and buttons light up is really cute ;)

My invoice showed the same amount, dunno if it's anything to do with the 1000 Tesco Clubcard points code that I used but I'm not complaining. Tested it with +RW and it will read it OK but obviously not record.

Just got rid of mine .....& good riddance too!

The unload time was the killer. For goodness sake, this is 2006 - when I press an unload button the tray opening should be instant NOT be measured in calendar days!

Tw'as a little finnicky about the DVD-R disc I fed it too.

    No multi region hack :-(

    No DivX.

It looked at me funny (ok, I made this one up but I was on a roll)

Think I'll just pay the extra and get one that is DivX compatible, plays *all* disks, & most importantly loads/unloads more or less instantly.

Received mine last Friday and thought I would add my thoughts (some of which have been reflected by others):

    Good
    • Good looking
    • Decent quality remote control which can also control telly channels and volume (not only Samsungs)
    • Quiet operation
    • Good picture quality on SP (2 hours recording)
    • Ability to add title to disc (so you know what's on it weeks later!)

    Bad
    • Takes a while from loading disk to being ready to do anything (although I haven't had a problem with slow unloading)
    • Worse picture quality on LP (4 hours) than my video - haven't tried the EP (6-8 hours) mode yet
    • Awkward to fast forward through adverts at speeds greater than 2x; 4x and above only show 'snapshots' and seem to suffer from pauses
    • Lots of button presses required to get anywhere eg setting timer (again compared to my video)

As this is my first DVD recorder, some of these niggles may be present on other models, but for the price paid I think I can live with them!

We got ours and i'm not happy with it :(

Hooked it up to our Sky+ and TV, and the picture through the dvd player is awful! It records the terrible picture too!!!!
I have spent a whole day messing about with scart leads and still a bad picture, i wish i hadn't bought the stupid thing! Bought DVD's playback is fine though, but if i only wanted a dvd player i'd have got one. Aargh!

I'm using gold plated scart leads so can't understand why the bad picture.

BTW if anyone has any suggestions i'd be grateful.

Sabbykins, as you've spent a day fiddling with scart leads, I'm sure you've tried all of the following, but just in case...
    • Check that your scart leads are OK - test each one by connecting your Sky+ box direct to the TV
    • Ensure your Sky+ box is set to RGB output (assuming your TV has an RGB input)
    • Ensure your DVD is set to RGB output
    • Connect TV output from Sky+ to DVD input, not the VCR output (this is not RGB)

I have Sky (not Sky+) connected to mine and it seems fine, I shouldn't think Sky+ is any different, so maybe you have just been unlucky and got a duffer.
