You can clearly see it is MPEG 4 (DivX) compatible.
you can clearly see it is NOT Mpeg4 (Divx) compatible:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/dvdplayer/dvdrecorder/dvd_r119xeu.asp?page=Specifications
Also, I downloaded the manual and it clearly states that it will NOT play MPEG 4 (Divx)

But more importantly, will it play SexX DVDs?
I've a mountain of 'Frankie Vaughn' DVDs to watch.0 -
Will these be available in-store or is this an on-line offer only?

Why?

You're right - the information on the Samsung website is conflicting - under features it does MPEG 4, in the manual it says it does not- who to believe, Samsung or Samsung?0 -
scanner wrote:how and where did you get this information from? did you speak to samsung?
Hi Scanner,
If you look at my post #3 you will see it clearly states this and post #12 seams to explain clearly why the confusion.
Seems to make sense to me but anyone in doubt should leave it alone to avoid disappointment.
Simple really.
EDIT: just checked four of the manuals and they all say NO to DIVx.
Reading comment that follows perhaps they can be made to read DIVx.

read on the net that samsung are being sued by lots of different company's because its to easy to re-activate and disable both macrovision and dvix as the machines are the same in europe and USA only the firmware is different and disney ,paramount ,sony pictures have lost billion's of dollars due to internet downloads and pirate dvd's0
