The advantage of DVD plus RW as far as I remember is that you don't need to finalise the disk - its literally just play and go.

    Duffbeer

Not strictly true, if not finalised then the recorded disc will only playback in the dvd recorder only.
    It`s getting to the point

AFAIK Most DVD players/recorders play BOTH.

Thanks, thats what i thought too! :)

We have a prehistoric dvd player, and it even plays dvd+r's so i'd be amazed if this one didn't.

If someone knows different please let me know 'cos i'd love to get one.

What inputs does it actually record onto DVD from?

for example if I connect my Sky+ box via scart into this DVD recorder, will I be able to transfer video content onto DVD from the Sky box's Hard disk?

I would imagine it has macrovision built into the sky+ box to stop this happening, but I may be wrong :)

Samsung insist that the player is DivX compatible.

So does that mean it definately won't play/read DVD+R's?

    That sucks if true! :(

Once the session is closed on a disc and it is finalised it is viewable in all players.Once writen to, weather its + or - r its all the same.Even + rw should be viewable once it has something recorded to it.

RAM is another thing all together.

For the money you cant really go wrong, Tesco use gratten i think it is, so its like ordering of a catalogue. BTW, i rang them on there 0870 number to cancel an order, then checked https://www.saynoto0870.co.uk and found a freephone number.Dont forget quidco at 3%

.... As I said previously if people check the Samsung website at:

    http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/dvdplayer/dvdrecorder/dvd_r119xeu.asp?page=Features

You can clearly see it is MPEG 4 (DivX) compatible.

... Some people really don't get the purpose of this thread - it's a bargain, available for a short time, if it's not for you then don't buy it - if you really want the Porsche of DVD's then what the hell are you doing reading this website anyway?

I partially agree with your sentiments, it strikes me, particularly with electrical items that some people go out of their way to dis ( hope this is correct term!) the OP, I'm sure it's possible to be slightly more polite than some posters are on here.

However, a bargain is a bargain, I bought the computer featured on Grabbit a couple of weeks ago, which wasn't cheap but a bargain none the less.

If it wasn't for the free DVD Recorders Tesc were doing a couple of months ago, er R&R ones, I would jump at this one.

Just bought one. Been looking for a while and decided they were all overpriced. But even if I only use the vouchers for shopping it's a dvd recorder for £55.
    Very nice thank you!!!

I wouldn't go near a standalone DVD player that can't record to DVD+RW (unless they were practically giving it away :) ).

Can't decide if this is supposed to be humorous in that they are practically giving them away!

My stand alone DVD recorder doesn't record to DVD+RW... I have never had any desire to or seen any need to. DVD-RAM is much better for my purposes.
