Yes, come on and spill the beans; you tight fisted mse's!...the north will rise again...0 -
Mine has just arrived...if someone can outline how to burn a DVD with a divx file ...then I'll check! (ie which options do I select under Nero..."data" etc)0

UPDATE: This DVD recorder doesn't play Divx files (tried...no workee, but it also says it doesn't play Divx files on page 40 of the manual)...nor do the two attributed hacks work to make it multi-region. So for the time being, I'm going to have to de-regionify the couple of non-UK DVDs I own.
Hey ho...still a nice machine.0 -

Hank, have you seen the following threads/hacks:

ps
this UK retailer is stating divx/mpeg4 playback but no mention of multi-region.

My order has been cancelled too - they just phoned to say "Sorry - we haven't got any". I thought I got in quite early too at just after midday - about half an hour after the OP posted.0

I ordered mine from Tesco.com on Friday night at 8.30pm!
Joe_Totale........Re those links...yes tried the first "hack" - didn't work for me. Your second URL doesn't work, but I suspect if it did, it'd be the 2nd hack I tried which didn't work either. As mentioned, I've only got a couple on non-UK DVDs & it's a fairly quick job to copy them onto another blank DVD & making them region free in the process.0 -
Not getting mine  Nice of them to let me know I had to contact them. Ordered on Friday 9th @ 1:49 (or so the 'order details' page says). They really are rubbish, out of 5 orders a total of 0 have been delivered :rotfl: OK so two were price mistakes but the other three were oos.:j :j0

Mine came today:j.
Not region free:mad:
Does not recognise any of my Divx discs:mad:
However, the Progressive scan mode on my cheapish MSE samsung lcd looks fab:T
I will continue to trawl the net in search of a hack, if anyone finds owt, let us know....the north will rise again...0 -
I was a bit miffed too about it not being region free!
AND it won't play some of my DVD+R's i have, although it plays some.
Another thing i'm noticing is that the picture coming through it from my SKY+ box is pretty grainy. I'm not too impressed at all, i might have to give them a ring once i've exhausted all the troubleshooting possibilities.
I keep reminding myself of how cheap it was though and thats some comfort!Wins to date since Aug 2008: Book 'Life with my sister Madonna' (My 1st win!) | Garnier Eye Roll On | (Sept) Wall e Robot| (Oct) £110 worth Miller Harris Perfume!|

Someone said earlier that it works with RAM Disks.
To save me forking out can someone tell me if they have been successful?
Thoughts:
Quite happy with the machine in general. I like the 2X F/F with sound (and up to 128X F/F?). and the TV control on the remote. Would've been nice to see at a glance what channel its on for recording but easy to do. just means turning telly on.:(. Takes a little while to load up so no instant record but I guess thats quite common. Wish it'd do things (delete) without confirming every step of the way, tho.
Great toy. I think I've played with most of the features. Looks good.very quiet fan too.
