It will be interesting to see if all the empty shelves are suddenly re-stocked when the offer ends!0

Missed out at Morrisons, but was told they would be getting more stock in. Phoned 2 days later and yes they were still expecting some. Yesterday phoned again and the Wines & Spirits Manager told me that Morrisons warehouse had exhausted stocks of top marque champagnes last Wednesday and no further supplies were being made. Heard from a friend that Sainsburys were doing some at £14. They are offering Heidsick Blue Top, Piper-Heidsick, Lanson Black Label & their own brand Blanc de Noir (which received top rating at a recent International blind tasting). Telephoned local Sainsburys, out of stock but delivery expected that morning.
Telephoned later and yes, they had Piper-Heidsick and Blanc de Noir, but be quick as limited supplies. Rushed down and got some (no restrictions on amount). But no extra 5% for 6 bottles !! Offer lasts until 1st January so give your local store a call if you are still searching."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
I have now been in Morrisons every day to see if they have had any of this champers on offer and still no joy. This company should be made to pay for this as it must go against advertising rules. Come on Martin have a go at them.
Has anyone managed to get any??????0 -
I went in on the first day of the offer before work and got the one bottle of Bolly that I wanted, there was plenty of stock then. I went back in early Tuesday to do a big shop and lots of stock then too.
They've got some Prosecco at half price today and I'll be off to get a bottle or 2 of that tomorrow.
Morrisons have Bell's on offer this week and it was flying out of the door today.0 -

Yes - lots of people - have you not read any of the previous posts in the thread?0 -
The Tesco offer is extremely good, IMO. Heidsieck Blue Top is a very good champagne - particularly at £12.50 per bottle. I picked up four today and was glad I hadn't bought it at Sainsbury's last week, where it costs £14.0

A money saving site advertising cut price champagne, fair enough but there are people openly admitting to running from store to store, driving miles and wasting numerous telephone calls in search of the stuff. It really is quite a pathetic scramble over cut price, dubious value, overrated variations on mineral water.
"I have now been in Morrisons every day to see if they have had any of this champers on offer and still no joy."
"I went into the store in Chippenham on Wednesday lunchtime to be told by the manager that not only had they run out of both Moet and Bollinger but would not be having any more. I then asked customer service to ring around local stores. Bath had also run out. Devizes had quite a bit but it was moving. I then drove over half an hour to Devizes only to get there and be told my one of the managers that they had run out the day before and had no idea when more supplies would be there. I tried Westbury store early on Friday morning and they had also run out and had no idea when or if they would get more."
And this last comment is quite unreal, is Martin supposed to negotiate with every retailer in the country to ensure his email is sent out to coincide with their offers?...........Why not get off your backside and go and search for bargains yourself, preferably on foot!
"I've only ever followed up on on two of your reports before and on both occasions the store was sold-out. So, it was hardly a surprise when I arrived at Morrisons this morning to find their champagne shelves empty. It seems to me that this is just a way for the shops to manipulate MSE and get them to send thousands of customers to their supermarkets. Surely you should be making sure that there is a reasonable stock available before putting offers such as these in your newsletters. Either that or allow some of the smaller shops to rip you off in the same way."Regards

I am really surprised to see that Martin is still headlining the Morrisons £14 for Grande Marque and £18 for Bollinger champagnes, when it is obvious that they have run out and as far as I can tell are not going to re-stock !"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

First time Poster, read this thread with interest.
You are right, the big champagne deals are always going to be popular. The only saving grace is that the larger Supermarkets are likely to restock more than once before Christmas. If you go in and find the shelves empty, make sure to ask the Wine Buyer/ Representative in-store when this resupply is taking place, that way you can be sure to snaffle next time!
There was also talk here about low cost alternatives to Champage. Be aware that NV (Non-Vintage) champagne harvests in France were lousy this year, so there is a recognised issue with over-supply and quality which is why your favourite stores have been able to secure such job-lot bargains to sell off cheaply.
My tip is an Aussie Sparkling Pink Rose in the Champagne style called Grifffiths Park - I've seen it stocked in Morrisons. This is just as good as the more recognised brands and might not have sold out as quickly as the big labels? I was in there last week and Morrisons has this at £4.99 (£2 off). This wine was the ONLY non-French, non-Champagne prize winner in the French Wine Growers /Champagne Association awards last year. Or in other words, those snobby French critics, who would normally only award to homegrown French wines COULDN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE!
Good luck and happy holidays!0
