Why have you labelled the Lidl Comte de Brismand champagne as the top deal? Because it's the cheapest? Hardly the best recommendation. I'd much rather pay another £4 and get the Nicolas Feuillette at Morrison which is an outstandingly good champagne at a ridiculously low price.0

The Lidl one is very nice, have not tried Nicolas Feuillette but have tried most of the top name label and this does definately compete favourably0 -

Hi chookie1
Yes, we're about letting people know the best deals so the champagne deals note's about the cheapest offers available, both for champagne in general, and for specific bottles.
So, for those people that may just be looking for the cheapest bottle of champagne available the Lidl one is in there near the top.
For those people that can afford to spend a bit more on a grand marque then the info about those is in there too.
We leave the quality discussion up to you guys as everyone's taste is different.

Full post at link above - but a quote from it below:
Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne Brut NV (90%, £31.91) topped the list in the consumer champion’s test* of champagnes, but Sainsbury’s Blanc Noirs Champagne Brut NV was only one per cent behind and around half the price at £15
"One disappointment was Moët and Chandon’s Brut NV which came 13th out of the 14 champagnes tested (79%). The experts weren’t impressed by its “slightly medicinal” aroma or “aggressive acidity”."
PS. The top-rated Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne Brut NV mentioned above is on offer at Sainsburys for £26.91 until: 01/01/2010"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

MSE Andrea posted a list of the Mossison's offers starting this week sometime last week. This included details of the champagne offers so MSE was well ahead of the game posting the offer before it even started. This thread is for the discussion about the offers.
I got the one bottle of Bolly that I wanted first thing monday morning. Thanks.
On a discussion note I went to venice on my honeymoon a few years ago and drank Prosecco for the first time and loved it, this is what I usually buy now when I want some fizz. I love the taste and the bubbles and lovely memories too.0 -
Yes, but it's still disappointing to read the weekly email, (received in my inbox today) get excited about the champers, then find out all the stores within a 20 mile radius are already sold out!0
-
I've only ever followed up on on two of your reports before and on both occasions the store was sold-out. So, it was hardly a surprise when I arrived at Morrisons this morning to find their champagne shelves empty. It seems to me that this is just a way for the shops to manipulate MSE and get them to send thousands of customers to their supermarkets. Surely you should be making sure that there is a reasonable stock available before putting offers such as these in your newsletters. Either that or allow some of the smaller shops to rip you off in the same way.0
