Anyone know of any offers on Champagne (or a very good sparkling) that can be used as presents - looking up to about £15 a bottle?

If you can stretch to £17.99 Piper Heidsieck Brut is on offer at that price at the Co-op.

  • I was at Somerfield this previous Saturday and saw:

    Lanson £18.66
    Bollinger £27.25
    Moet Brut Imperial £23.90

I don't know if these are still on though.
  • I was wrecking my brain over what champagne to buy. I'd been browsing online all day and forgot to check in here first. Now I have missed all the offers at Morrison's... I am a fan of Nicolas Feuilatte (which is a CM: Coop!rative de manipulation). :::sob sob:::

    Now my choices are:
Sainsbury's Blanc de Noirs Champagne Non Vintage Brut 75cl £15 (25% off 6 bottles)
(winner of IWC's Great Value Champion Sparkling 2009)
Tesco Finest Premier Cru NV £14.23 (£85.38 per case)
(IWSC Silver Best in Class 2009, Decanter Bronze 2009)
ASDA Extra Special Vintage Champagne 2002 £18.98 (no discount?!)
(IWSC Silver 2009, IWC Silver 2009, Decanter Silver 2009)
Taittinger at Tesco £20.90 a bottle (£125.40 per case)

I really wanted to get Taittinger - I'd been to their cave this summer, may be it was a hot day, may be they were truly good but my family and I agreed that they served the best out of the three caves we visited - other two being Moët and Mercier. But at the same time I have some grudge against the large champagne houses such as the ones run by LVMH (Moët & Chandon, Dom P!rignon, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, Krug, Mercier, and Ruinart) as these are N!gociant manipulant - they don't grow their grapes, they buy the grapes, sometimes even buy the wine and only do the second fermentation. These large champagne houses have really squeeze the grape growers to inflate their own profit margins and try to bankrupt the grape growers (and then seize their vineyards). If you buy fair trade chocolates, fair trade coffees, you wouldn't buy the "Grande Marque"... anyway, with this consideration I think I will eliminate Taittinger from the list.

That leaves Sainsbury (Soci!t! Coop!rative De Producteurs Des Grands Terroirs De La Champagne), Tesco (Union Champagne in Avize, have their own vineyards) and Asda (Chanoine Freres, unsure if they buy or grow grapes). I have decided that I'll pop down to Sainsbury first and see what I can find.

(Apologies to all - for writing a "talking to myself" post...)[/

JUST TO ADVISE, I WAS IN NETTO RECENTLY AND SAW N.F CHAMPERS BEHIND THE CHECKOUT GIRL FOR £12.50 - DUNNO IF THEY STILL HAVE ANY BUT IT WAS NOT HIGHLIGHTED AS BEING OFFER OR ANYTHING?? I GRABBED A BOTTLE AT THE TIME ALTHOUGH AM HOLDING OUT FOR MUMM TO BE ON OFFER SOMEWHERE SOON!

I sent a email to Morrisons about that offer

    Thank you for contacting us.

Please be assured that promotional products have been very carefully planned in advance and our distribution and retail colleague’s work extremely hard to ensure all stores are issued with what stocks are available at the time.

We can only sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you but all our offers and promotions like these are very popular and are therefore subject to availability and this is stipulated on our advertisements.

We are always interested to hear what our Customers have to say and your comments are very valuable to us. I have taken the liberty of passing these onto my colleagues within the Company who are best placed to benefit from your feedback.

    Yours faithfully

I got exactly the same reply, so I emailed them back a response and in turn I got the same, now seemingly an auto reply, again.

Large companies have auto or stock replies to emails, some just ignore them. The only way to get a proper response is to write to the Chairman or Chief Executive Officer. These can usually be found by Googling. For instance Guy Wakeley is the CEO of Morrisons.

  • Yesterday I bought 2 bottles of Heidsick Dry Monople Blue Top (think that's what it's called) for £25.00. Price per bottle is nearly £19.00 so a good buy I think. Have had this before and it's very drinkable. Hope this is still available.

I bought 6 bottles of this when the offer was on. £7 a bottle, £42 for 6.
My opinion. It was over priced at 7 quid.
