Great thread and I have written down a few recipes. OH brought me some lush bits for crimbo including a lip scrub but when i read the ingrediants I was shocked, basically sugar, oils and colourants so if they can sell that for that price I am going to have a go at making my own. Anyone any ideas for HM bubble baths/creams for kiddies?Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Natural beauty products are economical and easy to make at home. Here are some homemade remedies which will easy to make, effective also:
§ Honey has been used for centuries for its astringent and moisturizing properties.
§ Lemon, orange, and tomato juices are naturally astringent and useful for cleansing oily skin.
§ Warm one tablespoon dark honey in the microwave and add one tablespoon whole milk after that apply it immediately.
§ Melt two tablespoons cocoa butter over low heat and separate one egg yolk and add to butter after that add two tablespoons lemon juice. It is the good moisturizer for normal skin.0 -
Oh no - I've got my first age spot (on cheekbone)! Easy to cover, but I wondered if anyone could recommend a product to fade it?

I was thinking my teeth were a bit stained and haven't had time to book an appointment with the dental hygenist, so I spent a few minutes rubbing bicarbinate of soda on them with my finger, not a toothbrush, and now they are not stained. I will still book with the dentist, but a quick and cheap alternative to teeth whitening products.0

Fantastic thread :-)
I'm a cosmetic w***e... Not very money saving and I've never found anything ( besides Lush) which I love.
I really want to get a good, simple and ideally chemical free beauty routine going.
I don't really use cleanser and toner but I want to find/ make a good face cream and body cream.
Any ideas

I have to say thank you for the starters of this thread and in particular the poster who gave instructions for the coffee body scrub. I made this up last night and used it this morning in the shower. Oh my! This stuff is fantastic! I have really dry skin, think dandruff of the legs!, but today my legs are silky smooth and super moisturised.
I love Philosophy's salt scrubs but just cannot justify the £25 price anymore - this homemade version is a worthy substitute. And I love the coffee aroma first thing in the morning - lush!
I have slight concerns about all the coffee grounds going down the shower drains but I'm sure it will be fine.0 -
Just bumping this. I have no idea what an age spot is but I have one or two cherry angiomas which can come on with age. These are tiny little deep red spots which won't go.

I have oily hair type and I have started trying apple cider vinegar on it and it seems to be working. I'm thinking of trying olive oil for my face also, might prove to be a little expensive though. Also, one of my male friends did say that shaving with olive oil is much nicer and smoother than usual so even men might like this option0

Btw, does anyone use toothpaste for their face? I know it sounds bizarre but once I put it on my face instead of the usual thing one morning (when I was so tired I didn't realise) and to my surprise, my skin started tingling and the fresh mint woke my face up. Now I use it more often and use moisturizer afterwards as it feels like it dries up my skin if I don't but it wakes my face up nicely :P Anyone else tried it?0

There is a very simple and effective recipe:
Try rubbing a mixture of water and oats on your face and then wash it with warm water. You should have a lovely and smooth face afterwards -)0
