Found a recipe for deodorizing body spray for this heatwave we are having
2 Tblsp Bicarbonate of Soda, 1 Tblsp of essential oil, i split it 1/2 of tea tree oil and 1/2 of any other essential oil, i used citronella because its fresh and what i have. It says you can also add vanilla extract the one without alcohol but I didn't.
Put these in a spritzer bottle and top up with water, i kept spritzing today for a lovely fresh feel and it worked a treat.
I also found a Bicarb deodorant recipe for extra dryness and this also worked really well today in the heat. The cornstarch is anti perspirant and the bicarb is deodorant. Help and reviews on Makeup Alley link below.

Did a search but this didnt come up-
My sister just came through with a yoghurt and flour mix to use as a face mask. Shed put in in the fridge for an extra cooling effect. Mixture is a gloopy paste when you put in on, but hardens and sets after 15min. My face seems really smooth after and I'll definitely be using it again.
A tip I've just read about and will try is to rub the inside of a banana skin to draw out blackheads- Anyone tried before??"I see no point in money, except to buy off anxiety.

I already said that I use olive oil to cleanse my face and remove makeup but I just discovered a good 2in1 cleanser toner. I discovered it by making it up not from another source. Basically I put a wee bit of witch hazel in a bottle (as if you're using diluting juice- that kind of ratio) filled with water and put a few drops of tea tree oil. This is great on spot prone/oily skin. The ratio is like 1 part witch hazel to 4 or 5 parts water and a drop or two or three of tea tree oil. KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE EYES. This mixture is dirt cheap and you don't necessarily need to use witch hazel.0

Thank you, what a great idea for a body spray. Will make that. I looked up the link and its great but American and I was wondering- is cornstarch the same as corn flour? I can't find cornstarch in tesco.0 -
Hi yes its the same thing and apparently its a drying agent whilst the bicarb is a deodorariser, hope it works. I still use mine with great success and its virtually free :j
You might have to fiddle with the quantities at first. I now use olive oil to make mine into a paste just because it was in the house when I ran out and its worked as well and cheaper. But some use it like a dusting powder its just preference.0 -
I use olive oil on my face. You don't use much. It's great for removing makeup and I follow it with witch hazel. Best and cheapest things to use. Will never change it. My only advice is wash your hands thoroughly afterwards as if the oil gets and stays under your rings the skin will go flaky.
cjez do you mind telling me how you do this? Is it like the oil cleansing method where you put the oil on your face and then remove it with a hot flannel?

Sure. I put a little amount on my fingers and rub off my makeup then get a wet cotton ball to get it off otherwise the flannel gets stained with my makeup.0

Brilliant thread, will be going back through it for some ideas to soothe my eyes but just want to share a body wash recipe I've been using lately:
1 tin of coconut milk, cheapest is fine.
1 cup of natural liquid soap, like Dr Bronners. I use some stuff I got on offer from Approved Foods.
A couple of drops of your essential oils of choice. I use tea tree because I have it on hand but I'm sure it'd be very nice with a more exotic one.
Pour all ingredients in a jar, shake and that's it! It should keep for about two weeks in the fridge though since my bathroom is the mini Antarctic, I've got away with keeping it there. The original recipe called for much less liquid soap but I found that it didn't lather at all and for coconut oil, which I didn't add since my skin just seems to go haywire around any added oil but I think the amount called for was two tablespoons.
Scrub on with some exfoliation gloves/brush and you're left with silky smooth skin. Lovely!Riding on the cycling road
