I have oily hair type and I have started trying apple cider vinegar on it and it seems to be working. I'm thinking of trying olive oil for my face also, might prove to be a little expensive though. Also, one of my male friends did say that shaving with olive oil is much nicer and smoother than usual so even men might like this option
I use olive oil on my face. You don't use much. It's great for removing makeup and I follow it with witch hazel. Best and cheapest things to use. Will never change it. My only advice is wash your hands thoroughly afterwards as if the oil gets and stays under your rings the skin will go flaky.

  • Home remedies are the best option to take care of your skin like honey with lemon and honey with milk are best way to make your skin more bright and smooth.
I think drinking the good quantity of water and eating Fruits and vegetables is really very beneficial for healthy and glowing skin and health also.

Hi, Can anyone reccomend a good make it your self beauty products book?
    Just Looking For Advice. :-)
  • Well, you can possibly find a lot of natural treatments for your body parts. I can share a natural remedy with you that i commonly use. Mix a banana with lemon or honey. Apply this mixture on your face and keep it for 15-20 minutes. Wash your face with cold water and see the differences.

For hair, i can suggest you to massage your scalp with Coconut Oil twice or thrice a month. This can help make your hair stronger.

My mum has a really interesting one from reader's digest. I think it's traditional home and beauty tips but I'll check with her. Thing is that sometimes the recipes are overly complex when simple ingredients you have in your cupboard work just as well.

One beauty trick that I always use is one that my mother taught me
-- an egg white facial. Other than the results, the best thing about
it is all you need is an egg and a saucepan.
Step 1: Separate the egg white from the yolk and spread the white
    evenly over your face.
Step 2: Boil a pan of water, and put your face over the steam. Doing
so dries the egg white onto your face, tightening your skin.
Step 3: Leave on for about five to ten minutes and wash off with warm water.

Not only will your face feel refreshed but tighter too, leaving you
with younger more radiant looking skin. It works every time! For a
good exfoliant that's also cheap and natural, use oatmeal. Applying it
with your regular soap can really make a difference. It's a great
trick if you have sensitive skin.

a great facial exfoliator ,though gentle, is bicarb and water mixed.

almond oil great for removing eye make up,moisturising and conditioning cuticles.

if you do the egg white face mask mentioned above, use the remaining yolk as a deep conditioner for your hair.

oil(any!) and sugar is a fab hand softener.

dry bicarb on a toothbrush whitens teeth.

    Great thread!

I've found a super hair rinse made with cider vinegar (1 part vinegar, 4 or 5 parts water). Shake it up and pour a bit over your hair after shampooing (shut your eyes and mouth!) rub it in then give it a good rinse. I use once a week. Makes my hair so soft.

Also I found a face scrub made with crushed oats, brown sugar, aloe vera and lemon juice. About 1 tbsp of all and a small squirt of the lemon juice, mix together and rub on your face. Leave it on for a bit if you want. Smells like flapjacks, yum!

I'm having trouble with body lotion though, can anyone help? I found a really simple recipe which was equal amounts of shea butter and an oil (I used almond oil) but that was very wrong and I just had a tub full of oil! So I added more shea butter and melted again, it set in the fridge nicely but on rubbing it on my skin it's gone really oily again. I didn't make much so won't be a big loss if it's useless but it would be nice to rescue it somehow...
