  • Valli - Yorkshire - the land of the gods!!! So there!
Lived at home till married XH, all my three were planned -well maybe not DD2 as DD1 was only 4 months old when I found out I was having her, but loved all by all - a happy supprise - think of straight jacket!! No, honestly I out of my family has been very fortunate and though things didn't pan out with XH I have 3 beautiful children and I now a wonderful, loving, giving DH when he does as he's told!! :rotfl::rotfl: But boy can I lose over petty stuff stuff - like his family and their thoughts. Kids have always said I'm carp at small mundane niggly things but ace at the big stuff - I'd rather have it that way.
You are my my kinda woman even though your from the 'wrong side of the pennines'!!!

Verdict was that she couldn't rule out a hairline fracture as it's still sore and swollen after 11 days so suggested I go to Casualty and get it xrayed.
That's so not what I wanted to hear :( Mines either 4 or 5 weeks now :o

Greenbee - don't quote me on this but I was under the vague impression for asbestos you had to have a covered skip?
That's what I thought, and it's now sealed and will be taken away first thing, but I'm going to be questioning them closely before they do anything else... I want to see a copy of the licence and details of where it has gone with confirmation that the person who took it away is licensed to dispose of it. The quote (just checked) specifically states a charge for an asbestos skip and licence, and a disposal cost per tonne, and I'm not paying a penny until I know its been done correctly. I have an email from them saying that they could put all the waste in one skip so I checked with SiL (who works in waste disposal) and she's pretty sure (as I thought) that you can't mix it asbestos with other waste.

Didn't get home till late, so can't really see what the garden looks like without the garage. I'll have to inspect tomorrow morning (although I'm off early for another cake-decorating class) as I won't be back until after dark. All the wood is on the lawn waiting to go too.

Suppose I should head off to bed if I'm going to get up on time tomorrow!

    Happy weekend :D
  • Hi everyone - I'm new to this thread!
This thread found me at a good time - my flat is in dire need of cleaning, and I wasn't sure where on earth to start, but now I'm full of ideas. It has been very neglected of late - shift working isn't the best motivator for cleaning (that's all about to change as I will be working only days for the forseeable future) so I need to sort it out and get my cleaning cap on.
    Where do I sign up?

    Morning ladies!
Valli - Hope you feel better today hon
Carlsberg - Not many families without a few surprises and things that would rather be forgotten.. What matters is like you said - that there is love and support. We aren't all lucky enough to get that but if we do, we are blessed.
    Jinky - kiss.gif
    LadyL - smooch.gif
Toots darling - I sent that cowboy boots story to Tristan as I know it will make him laugh
Soappie - good luck for today
AnW - hope W is feeling better today
Rach - must be great to feel so freeeeeeeeeeee
aj - thinking of you and your OH and his dad
    Rosepink - hugs.gif
LGibbon - I am pleased you still have a job, and I admire the way you are seeing the best in the situation, it all sounds really positive.
Ashbash11 - Welcome hon!!:xmastree: The tree is just so Toots can see that you are new and 'sign you up!'
Re: cars - We have had a VW Touran for 3 1/2 yrs and it's been very reliable.
Are just about to get a MB Vito against my wishes and against our budget *sighs*.. taking out another loan was not what either of us wanted at this stage, but due to my particular needs, Motability have told us this is the car we have to have. So now we have to find £3,600 before January, hence having to apply for a loan. I am usually an upbeat person but after all our struggle to start clearing debts etc this feels like a step backwards.
However, I do appreciate we are very very lucky to get Motability at all so am trying to get to a place of gratitude around it.
Better split this up again so it's not stupidly long as well as annoyingly purple..:p:p:rotfl:

    Morning All

I'm going to try and be a good flylady today before we go over to my parents' for tea and then Biddulph for the lights switch on. DS is full of cold so that's not a good start.

However, I have unloaded and reloaded the TD and Wm so far this morning so I've made a start.

Going to have a quick catch up of the thread now.

    Have a good day all

    Hi all,

Feel like the fog is lifting a bit - for now at least . Time of work is doing me good and giving me the chance to really see myself and decide what I need to change to feel good about myself and what I need to do to get there....!

GP has signed me off for another 4 weeks off which takes me up to Christmas, the problem is that the last 2 weeks will be half pay so I'll be worrying about my finances. GP understands that my finances will be a worry for me but is stressing that its not a reason to return to work. DH is being fantastic and said that I must not go back until I'm fully recovered otherwise it will set me back. He said we'll manage on the money somehow...I'm lucky to have such a supportive bloke.

I will try to complete some of the lists today given that I'm feeling a bit brighter.

Hope you're all ok, sorry I've not kept up with the thread, only read the last couple of pages - on that note:

Carlsberg - I grew up with a lovely Aunt who turned out to be my cousin!

There was also a mysterious divorce that came with no explanation and was very hush hush and only whispered about in higher circles. All was a revealed at a family "knees up" when an old Aunt had too much whiskey and said to the gathering "I don't know how she recovered from finding him dressed in her clothes"

As you can probably guess by Bro and I were the youngest children in an old fashioned family (Dad was "older" when we came along and was sometimes mistaken as my Granddad by people who didn't know us - Mum is much younger so their relationship was also a scandal)! As a result, things were frowned upon and there were more skeletons in the closet than you could shake a stick at. Most of Dad's family, including Dad have passed away now but we still enjoy a family gathering because some of our older cousins were let in on family secrets during death bed conversations so you never know what will come up....!!! Its all in good humour now and things get revealed with "...what? You didn't know that.....well, you know when....?" :rotfl:You can't choose your family eh?

God, its Saturday - what am I doing up!!!!

Have a good day all, I'll try to catch up on the whole thread later but please don't hold your breath. Therefore:
    1. I wish all the poorlies respite and get well soons.
    2. Positive vibes for any flyers feeling down - I challenge to you go to the nearest mirror and smile widely at yourself until you feel daft and end up chuckling at your near madness of taking advice from a virtual friend on a money saving site!
    3. Well done/yippee for those of us with good news - you lucky spuds - share the love! :p
Extra special hugs to Toots and Lady L - take things easy and look after yourselves.

All washing gathered up and dumped in front of WM, first load in.
Take shower head apart to clean it, and now cannot get it to go back together!!, so soaking one of the plastic bits in a bowl of boiling water to make it more plyable (sp) so will try again in a bit.

Not much time to 'chatter' today as off out at 11am, so have a good day all, hugs to anyone who needs them xxx

I'll let you know, of course, how I get on. I've been doing a bit of research and I think I have what's termed a high ankle sprain at the very least - it's where the ligament thingy between the tibia and fibula gets hurt as well as the ligaments around the ankle itself.

But, I need to wash, dress and get out of here. NN's taking me there at 8:45 (we both know from past experience that xray opens at 9!)
