I have been using 07744974333 from my BT mobile since last one year to make calls to india using my inclusive free minutes.
However, BT has charged me around 25pence/min for the latest bill. I called up customer services, but they were least helpful. I have now complained online and waiting for their reply!
I also notice that simply phone has got a new number now, so maybe I will try that for few min and see how much they charge!

Could be that BT Mobile have started to charge for calls to 07744 intl dial through access numbers. As 2ax points out it is most unlikely the charge will apply to one number, but you never know with BT Mobile. :D

Hi, PF I still do not understand the point. Is it illegal to use inclusive x-net minutes to call 07744 numbers? Why networks are abruptly starting charging for these numbers. What is the stand of S-F on this, if you know?

It is possible and legal to use this method, though a grey area. The main networks have policies on whether they are from inclusive minutes, or charged separately. Orange has changed policy twice.

The extra confusion for BT mobile customers is because BT now has no link with O2, and BT mobile has signed mvno contracts with three networks at different times. A BT customer phone will operate on O2, Vodafone or T-mobile depending when they first connected. I do not know if some have retrospectively been transferred or not, and whether this affects charging or not. So it's entirely feasible that any query to BT Mobile about this will meet ambiguity.

Simply-Fone's stance is the same as always - what the networks charge is a matter between them and their customers.

Thanks. I was charged at 50p / min by Orange, however, have received a letter from them saying the call charges are 10 p /min. Is this evidence sufficient to get money back from Orange? Does anybody know the reason why Orange allowed it again?

I don't know - they used to charge highly, and now don't, so I don't understand 10p/min, unless that is the tariff charge for minutes after the inclusive ones are used up.

I received this letter in month of May after complaining to the correspondence dept., however, their billing department do not accept this. This charge of 10 p /min is for dialling 07744 *** *** numbers. How on the earth two departments of the same company have different information? Could this be used as an evidence?

    MAY!!

Orange thankfully changed their stance once more about 3 weeks ago & now PERMIT these 07744 97 4404 calls again as ffree [but ONLY if you have cross-net minutes -- so be careful!]
