Someone on the forums said you should only call your lost cat when you are walking towards your home, so that the cat has the chance to follow if they are not close by, never call as you are walking away in case you lure them further away. That made a lot of sense to me!

My cat was missing a few years ago for 10 days in early January, i was beside myself, could'nt eat, sleep, just kept crying etc..

Anyway we walked the streets everyday, put posters up and we found her because the clever kitty handed herself into the local cattery, luckily i'd knocked there a couple of days before with a photo and my phone number....

Please don't give up hope, cats are resourceful and resilient creatures xxxx

Sorry to hear cat has ran away, Purrsinourhearts forum has a good guide of what to do here...

There's also a good thread with some articles on Visualisation which might help if you believe in that kind of thing? Suppose it can't hurt to send some good vibes out...

When you go out to look for her, don't forget to look underneath cars. If she's quite a shy and timid cat, I don't think she'll have gone very far. Our Pepsi is very shy and when she's in an unfamiliar place she finds a very small hideyhole and cowers in there, as opposed to running for miles as she'd be too terrified. I'd suggest double checking the house as well, we thought we'd lost Pepsi yesterday when the front door was open, as we went round calling her name and there was no noise in reply (she's normally a very vocal cat), and we checked every little nook and cranny, turned out she's gotten into the base of our housemate's bed somehow and jammed herself into a tiny gap between loads of boxes. Good luck in your search anyway, hope Missy finds her way back to you :(

I am so sorry to hear your cat has gone missing, keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope that she turns up safe and sound. I know what an awful feeling it is when they go missing so try and be positive and I hope she turns up soon. ((((hugs)))

my old cat timmy used to jump out of our sons bedroom window if he couldnt get out through door!!! honestly hun - that was a sight to see - the cat sailing past kitchen window then landing and running! he never once hurt himself! what time is supper for your cat? i would go out about ten mins before and call him while rattling his box or banging the tin. if no response then i would suggest going round the neighbourhood again and put up some posters with pic of cat and the reward - and yes - talk to the kids around there - most of the kids will know the hidey places and may well find him. good luck - i really hope your cat returns soon.
  • Hi, sorry to hear about your cat. Hopefully she will come home soon. We recently adopted my dad's cat, and moved him 280 miles to our house. He wasn't an indoor cat with my dad but we obviosly kept him in for a couple of weeks until he got used to the house. However after only a couple of days he jumped out the kitchen window when i wasn't looking. I thought we'd lost him for good as he didn;t know the area. He didn't come back when i called him, and i laid awake for hours, with the same window open praying he'd find his way back, and about 3 o'clock in the morning he did!! They have an amazing homing instinct (even tho he had been moved all that way), i think the ham i left on the windowsill helped too ;) Don't give up, hopefully she'll be back

Thanks for all of the replies. Still nothing but tea time for Missy is about 9pm so I shall go downstairs about then and shake the biscuits and see if she comes out. Just because its raining and windy not sure if the noise will travel very far but anything is worth a try. BF has gone out again with a torch to shine in bushes in case they catch the glint of her eyes but if that doesn't work Ill just have to resign myself that she won't be back tonight and sort out ringing all the animal shelters in the morning & will also laminate some posters in work as I think some of the ones I put up earlier have been blown away.

Im just hoping that she's being cheeky & has snuck into someones house & is being fed & kept warm until they can hand her in to rspca tomorrow.

Ill update if there is any news, thanks for all of the support x

  • Whereabouts are you and what does Missy look like? The more people that know what sort of cat to look for, the better.
