Zippychick - knew it was oil straight away as she absolutely stunk of it.

Yes please Firefox - I want to make sure this definitely doesn't happen again! She's always been so timid that although she went on the windowsill she never usually even stuck her head out so I didn't think I needed it. But once is all it took and don't ever want to go through the same thing again!

My flat is two floors up facing onto a busy main road (people and buses), Noah would be terrified if he fell out and I'd never get him back. Plus there is a small ledge with spikes to discourage pigeons ...

Hope you find something to suit your windows and budget in this lot!!

My FIL's neighbour had a prob with cats coming into his house when he had the windows open so made his own mesh screen. His was easy to make though as he has sash windows so just made a thin metal frame with the mesh in then slid up the window and propped the mesh frame in the open space.

Looking at the flatcats link their screens are made of nothing more than mesh and velcro!
Surely it's cheaper to make your own?!?

That's a good idea, I was worried about the summer because it'll get boiling in the house but I don't want Pepsi making a dash for it. Like Shelly said, it would probably be really easy to make your own out of some netting (really cheap from places like Boyes, or haberdasheries) and some velcro, or even some magnetic strips? I like the fact that it'll keep insects from coming into your house as well as keeping our little kitty friends safe :)
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

  • Was thinking about the little one on the way home from work this evening and something compelled me to log in and see if there was any news. So pleased I did - most of us have been there and it is absolutely awful - only other animal lovers understand how you feel. So happy for you all.

    Keep her close...

Am still chuffed to bits, thought I would have to keep searching. Never dreamt that she would just find her way home by herself. She's fine today, went to PAH on my way back from work - bought them a new bowl each, few treats and a tunnel - Im such a sucker but they are worth every penny!

Will definitely be investing in some sort of covering for the windows & will be keeping them firmly shut until then!! To those whose cats are still missing, keep hoping & searching as miracles can happen - all the positive tales on this thread show that.

For now I'll leave you with a few more photos of my babies having a well earned nap!

wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy heyyyyyyyyy!!! shes back!!!!! am so pleased for you all i could cry!!! sitting here with big soppy grin on my face.
had a look at pics - obviously she doesnt like having her pic taken when she is looking less than her beautiful self!!!! not looking at camera at all!!!
can i give everyone my tip for getting motor oil off paws???? sunflower or vegetable or olive oil first - rub in with fingers then use kitchen roll to remove surplus - you will be amazed at how much of the motor oil will come out! when you think you have got off as much as you can then use fairy or shampoo neat to rub into the oily bit - then and only then use warm water to rinse it off. the idea being that oil removes oil then you need neat detergent to remove the lighter cooking oil. its kinder i think to the cats skin and fur. had to do this with first cat timmy as he had habit of getting under cars!

still cant believe shes home............yay - will celebrate with nice glass of wine now hun.
