    Hello all

    I've been re-joining lots of challenges today to kick start 2011 - would like to join here, too, please! Need to do a proper stocktake, but I know there's a lot in the pantry & fridges/freezers - including....10 boxes of stuffing bought for family meal (duplication!), 2 packets of bread sauce which we all hate, so they may be freecycled!, a free turkey my son got on Xmas Eve from the supermarket where he works (now frozen for Easter). Going to read all this thread again for ideas & inspiration, looking forward to all your ideas!
    Thanks in advance.
    A xo

    AAARGGGH!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Having spent the last couple of weeks sorting, re-arranging and listing the contents of 2 freezers, a tall larder unit and 2 cupboards in minute detail - I have just gone into the kitchen to find that OH had moved my notepad from it's safe place - and our new puppy has shredded it ito tiny pieces and (just to prevent any miniscule hope of salvage) has pooped on the remains!!!:eek:

    Both are totally unrepentant and OH appears baffled as to why I am so upset :( - he just keeps saying "Well, at least the puppy used the paper, clever boy".

    I'm sure you can all feel my pain!!!

    I just microwaved some yesterday and ate with custard and will do so until it's finished. Just have to fit it in with my diet somehow!

  • We had a goose for New Year's Dinner - a special treat and one of my gifts to OH. We fed his family but it was 5.5kg and we still have leftovers!! So in my tiny slowcooker I've made some goose stock from the bones. The giblets were used for gravy a few days ago (shame I don't know a dog to give them to afterwards!) We have lots of shredded meat and skin left. So aside from stuff like goose, gravy and chips I'm going to use the stock to make risotto and add some meat near to the end of cooking time - all from storecupboard bits!

    Re Christmas pudding ice cream I love Jamie Oliver's take on it. ....Simply mix your leftover pud into a half eaten tub of good quality vanilla icecream - problem solved!!

    Well I was engaged. Until we separated on 8th March :( Here's hoping that having a break will help us solve all our problems. Until then I'm a single mum on a tight budget :(

  • The last couple of nights have been leftover dinners, and today the boys are having whoopsied fish and chips from the freezer, I might make macaroni cheese for me and OH as my sister has taken Mum out for lunch and they won't need to eat later.

    With the kids going back to school on Wednesday I'll have to do a shop for lunchbox stuff, wish I could wean my lot off crisps, I think I might try and swap them for homemade treats, maybe carrot cake or twinks hobnobs.
  • so used a spare (15days ood) RR puff pastry and a pack of sausages that i had to take out of the freezer to fit leftovers in ;) and made
    sausage and mustard puffs, just part cooked the sausages for about 15 mins then cut the pastry into 6 pieces, spread with wholegrain mustard and then wrapped around each sausage.
    hubby loves them and now has snax for the week at work :D

    think i'll use the other pack of pastry for a tart type thing for lunchs for me
