Got 2 large lasagnes and the filling for a large shepherd's pie made from the reduced mince I had in, so that lot's going in the freezer. With half the turkey stock I've made bendy carrot soup and added the last morsels of turkey off the carcass to it, normally I wouldn't bother picking over the carcass after boiling it, but it's waste not want not from now on. In my freezer I also have 1 lot of chilli and 1 lot of chicken in tomato and courgette sauce, so in total we have 5 meat meals, there's not much frozen meat, so I'll have to start thinking up some veggie meals from the stuff in the larder.
Haven't got round to pudding making yet, I think I've got a mental block when it comes to desserts......must try harder!0 -

A while ago I remember reading a thread which had been started by someone who decided to use up all their groceries before buying anything else (it was in the days where the postal strikes were on and I think her partner was a postie). I can't remember the name of the OP but I do remember she said she had stock piles of flour, sugar etc which she was going to try and use up. She carried it on for quite a long time. I have been trying to find it for the last couple of days - with no luck!

I just didn't feel like going outside today, but my overfilled cupboards saved me
Today's dinner was a stir fry - chicken and peas from the freezer, canned chinese mushrooms, water chestnuts and pineapple, noodles, stir fry sauce, a bit of oil and soy sauce. And I have enough to freeze half and use it later :j
I must do this more often, I still have loads of stuff I can use for full meals, so why am I going to the shop so often?2011 143.47£ on eBay :starmod:0 -
Hello again everyone, I need to defrost my freezer and clean put the pantry yet again, so signing back up for the store cupboard challenge.
Tonight we had egg fried rice with beef. I had forgotten how nice it is, and simple enough to do. Good way to pad out a small bit of reduced steak for three people. Tomorrow I want to do a freezer/cupboard audit and mealplan for the month with a view to clearing the bulk of things out.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

To serve me when hungry:-
Tablespoon of curry paste (normally lurks in our fridge)
Enough rice for one (what ever is in)
1/2 tin chickpeas
Handful frozen spinach (defrosted)
Stock cube / water
Toast off the curry paste is a little oil, coat the rice and add the chickpeas. Add enough stock to cook the rice. Once the rice is virtually cooked and the liquid has nearly gone add the spinach an cook for another few minutes.
Stick in a bowl and enjoy. A great quick veggie supper"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Failed at lunchtime forgot to take lunch with me to work, so had to buy a greggs steak bake. Didn't fancy breakfast and we had pork chops with Jacket Pots for dinner tonight. Girls had cereal for brek and crumpets, which were in the freezer for lunch.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

Sausage and mash was lovely though unfortunately I somehow managed to burn Oh's mushy peas, not happy about that as there was enough made to put some in the freezer! Still the pigs will enjoy them tomorrow! I put a couple of 'floppy' parsnips I found lurking in the fridge in the mash and some left over sprouts with it and we were all happy (I let OH have a tin of spaghetti in sauce to make up for his mushies!) Think tomorrow is going to be jacket potatoes, I have cheese, creamed sweetcorn and more spaghetti to go on them!Member 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4
