sounds yummy, id brown sausages in frying pan with onions then bung in casserole dish with cider/wine, maybe a bit of whatever sauces you may have in cupboard? bbq, tom sauce, wouster, mustard, gravy granules etc hope its nice :)
or somerset sausages, brown sausages and pop in dish with sliced onions anmd carrots, cider and dash of salt and pepper. cook in oven for 45-60mins if sauce needs thickening either reduce in saucepan or add cornflour, serve with jackets or mash :)

As we call it - Campfire Casserole

    Brown sausages

Add onion, cubed potato chunks, baked beans, tin chopped tomatoes, worcester sauce, black pepper, paprika, tomato puree and some gravy granules

    Cook until potatoes are soft

Serve in a bowl with chunks of fresh bread if required

    Flaming gorgeous

Had a tummy bug all last week so have not used up much from my stores and bought a couple of things:o like a slow cooker sauce mix to make with sausages as I really haven't enjoyed the recipe I normally make with leeks the last couple of times I have made it. I have updated my list back on page 179 to keep track.

2 lamb steaks defrosted and will be making sunday lunch tonight as neither of us felt like it yesterday. This will use up some of the freh veg too and a quorn fillet or a couple of sausages.

I have attempted to feeze milk today for the first time so I hope it doesn't leak all over the freezer:eek:

I will need to pop out today to get fruit and dishwasher salt but will not be buying anything else. Money is shorter than expected this month so we really need to make as much use of the stores as possible.

  • morning I have made a list of all in my cupboards/freezers/fridges/green baskets (overflow) so will hope to use all of this up and save some money this month, I just seem to keep buying more and more of things while I already have tons of it in the cupboards.

I have too much milk at the moment any ideas how to use it only rissoto rice and white rice no pudding rice....loads of other bits though any ideas?
    Determined to do better
  • well guys i was too tired last night so did finger food lol but tonight im going to have a go! Can yu just chop all the veg, brown sausages and stick it in a casserole dish with just cider?

Would that cook ok, i rather fancy a "sticky" dish tonight if that makes sense? x

A ghoulish night needs goulash, surely?;)
  • Just had a rummage in the fridge to find inspiration for tomorrow night's dinner and discovered:
    3 parsnips
    2 carrots
    2 peppers
    1 leek
    bunch of spring onions
    couple of onions
    bag of tomatoes
    some new potatoes
    pack of shiitake mushrooms.

Am going away Wednesday so I really need to use all of this up, I hate throwing food away. I do also have some staples ie cheese, eggs and most of the usual cupboard stuff. As I'm going away it needs to be cooked and either eaten all tomorrow (including poss OH having leftovers for lunch on Wednesday) or freezable.

Big, big hugs to anyone who could throw any ideas my way!!

Lots of soup and stew for the freezer! Could roast some veggies to freeze, most seem to reheat well.
I'd use the bag of tomatoes and cheese to make pizza :D maybe some egg fried rice with mushrooms and spring onions and peppers?

I'd freeze almost all of it and deal with it when you get back in stews, soups, etc. I put frozen veg in my slow cooker and it always comes out fine! :D
