Store cupboard challenge

Hi Hotcookie,
I would use the brie and/or philidelphia to make a creamy sauce for pasta and then add the smoked salmon just before you serve it. Smoked salmon is also fabulous with scrambled eggs and you could use the soda bread to bulk it out. If you can't fit that into this weeks meal plans smoked salmon usually freezes well to use another time.
Cheese usually lasts well beyond it's best before date so I would wrap it well and keep it in the fridge until you can use it or else freeze it for later, although in my experience most frozen cheeses are best used within about six weeks after freezing.
This thread might give you some more ideas for using the salmon:

When I read this I thought you had ice cream brain freeze! I was going to tell you to push your thumb hard up against the roof of your mouth and it goes....but that won't help you meal plan will it?!0

Thanks, I quite fancy the idea of smoked salmon with pasta, so thats an idea, I really don't like salmon mousse though. Its really good irish wild salmon from a fabulous smokery that was a gift last year, and unfortunately I have I have already frozen and defrosted it so can't refreeze
Maybe new years day we will eat smoked salmon and soda bread, mini hamburgers and brie and cranberry parcels LOL let the diet start on the 2nd! Then smoked salmon, creme fraiche and dill pasta on Saturday night! Could always freeze lamb curry to have another day to allow for using up stuff0 -
As this has fallen from the sront page of OS, I'll add it to the existing storecupboard thread to keep ideas together

Had a good using up session today, but been trying to sort out fridge contents for a couple of days. Sorted a lot out into meals by reviewing the meal plan to make the best of the high value items (roast rib of beef, home prepared multi bird roast that MIL made.) and to use up the other things. We were 11 on Sunday so that got rid of quite a lot. Had Bro and family so we were several hungry teens and the rest. I decided in the end to limit what I put out on the basis that I didn't mind if they finished the potato wedges, but just served out 2 pieces of chicken per person and put the rest in the kitchen.
Dh ate most of the left over turkey, stuffings etc and the rest have gone into the basis of a very nice looking soup, along with other fridge clearance veg. Froze some brownies before they all got scoffed! served my hm chocolate sauce in a recycled squeezy type bottle for easier dispensing by the kids. THey end up with a bowlful if they serve from a jug!
HM Pizzas today used a salami in the fridge that was approaching the bb date. A load of coleslaw and salad topped up the meal last night and lunch.
Have got some tongue left over. A portion of potato wedges on one side for dd to take for lunch and the other half of 'her' pizza. She's also going to take some cake into work.
I need to do a freezer audit soon."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I did well emptying the freezer prior to Christmas and now have filled it back up and the cupboards too.
Better get back on the storecupboard challenge again - lots of cheese to use up, mince pies and sausage rolls.

some new recipe books from santa. I got Jamie Oliver America, OH got wagamama, I bought myself " a country music christmas book" with loads of very random recipes in and a cheesy cdand I bought OH the reggae reggae one. So weve got some nice things to try and hopefully share the successes LOL
. 2010 is going to be THE year fro frugality. i used to do it but got so lazy. I am ready to start again! Must buy more tupperwares!
We got back last night and unfortunately this place is so cold ( no central heating) I cant bear to go downstairs. Added into the mix is the fact I have been SOOO ill ( upset tum) for about 3 days now and Ive eaten nothing, havent been able to keep anything downHave managed to eat 2 slices of toast with some v old jam. OH made a pizza with storestuff and made double for tonight.
The amount of chocs we've managed to acquire is phenomenal, and Im looking forward to doing some interesting baking with the contents of various selection boxes over the coming weeks!
We took mince out of the freezer so tomorrow we might endeavour to make Jamaican Beef pattys from the reggae book ( some for freezer) and a burger with HM bread out of it.
All the best to everyone:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Enjoy your new Kenwood!
There is no way I would be parted from mine now!
It is great to mix baking things in it - no stress and no strain!
Which means very helpful to use up the things stashed in the cupboards which you bought to use in this and that and never got around to!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550
