:hello:
Well, hello everyone - I'm back. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
lynzpower - I hope you feel better soon. You have my deepest sympathy - I had a horrible, flu-type cold over Christmas and barely ate anything from Christmas Eve until yesterday. It's just no fun at all, is it?
budgeteer - your soup sounds lovely. I haven't made chickpea soup in ages, and it's one of my favourites, so thanks very much for the reminder!
purpleivy - thanks for the salami pizza idea. That's tonight's dinner sorted, anyway!
I will be back to Storecupboard Challenging from New Year's Day - I've just put together my meal plan for next week and all except one meal (Thai chicken curry, which I just really fancy) is from storecupboard / freezer ingredients.
Have a lovely (and frugal) New Year, everyone!Back after a very long break!0 -
Any ideas on what to do with 3 fillets of white fish - do have potatoes and peas but was hoping for something a bit more adventurous?0

I'm very fond of this recipe - nice and simple, but a bit different to plain grilled fish. Or you could do fish pie, topped with mash?Back after a very long break!0 -

That recipe sound beautiful and despite having a pretty empy fridge I do have all of the ingredients. I would have never thought of something like that!!0 -
Good luck doelani  I'll be listing the contents of my freezer next week, and running them down so as to defrost and clean the freezer
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the exisitng storecupboard challenge thread to keep ideas together

I pride myself on being a pretty inventive cook, but I wouldn't have thought of that combination if I hadn't hit on the recipe, either. I'm currently trying to be hyper-efficient and do a two-week meal plan, and that's now in my plan for next week - I wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't mentioned fish, so thanks for making me think of it! :beer:Back after a very long break!0 -
My biggest problem is fussy eaters,
One will not eat meat except sausages
One does not like potatoes or chips except if they are from the chip shop
Two will not eat any type of pork.
It is a nightmare aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -

Actually Im ok now! So will eat today.
I am ashamed to say I ate out again today- its just got to stop. It was so foul, I left it. Might as well have just left the cash on the table and not eaten I would have felt happier when I left - AVOID HARVESTER DARTFORD BRIDGE!
We are off again tomorrow for a few days, leaving the freezer and stores well and truly in tact ( and eating someone elses)
I aim to come back refreshed with a list of heaving store cupboard to launch into 2010 with! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
