I haven't been able to use them twice...
When I cook in them, they are too difficult to clean and stay intact, if you know what I mean :o

Know what you mean but I usually re-heat in a pot so can occasionally use again but not always. I also (sadly) try to re-use the seal bags where possible :o

I only use mine for assembled meals, fish pie, shepherds pie, balti pie ect.
For anything that I want to heat in a pot, or microwave, I freeze in silicon muffin trays, then when frozen, pop them out (like big ice cubes) into ziploc bags :D

I bought a pack of metal trays for meals but decided they weren't really very 'green'. So I purchased some cheap ceramic dishes of the right size for my dd's appetite. She's generally the one that I do veggie stuff for in one helping size.

  • Hi All

Been more successful with putting stuff into the freezer this weekend than taking out. In went 4 cornish pasties from the butcher, 1 1/2lb stewing beef (prob going to use on wed), 2 free frange chickens (on special at Waitrose) and the chicken fillets off the chicken breasts I bought from the butchers for the dinner party I did on Saturday night!!!! Made a pact with myself that I am not going to buy any meat until 19th Dec!!! We will see how it goes!

Did manage to use up 2 part baked ciabattas from the cupboard, a few roasted peppers from a jar, 2 tins of tomatoes, a savoy cabbage and my frozen raspberries in the course of making our italian style meal on Saturday.

Also failed with getting freezers defrosted! Must be done this week!

Got boat loads of raspberry sauce left - any ideas what I can do with it?

Tonight is massive pasta sauce cooking for fundraiser on Sat (going to freeze it) and making leek and potato soup too. Going to make the chicken soup later in the week - all for fundraiser - all using bits I have in cupboards!

OH is out at his Christmas Do tonight so only feeding myself, will prob have fridgeraiders pasta and sauce.....

  • I want to use up my left over chicken from yesterday plus have 1 onion & 1 pepper plus some whoopsied egg noodles, so was thinking of a stir fry. Stupid question probably but what sauced or herbs do I need to bring it all together and give it flavour? I have some soy sauce plus a sweet N sour jar of sauce but are there any alternatives you kind people could suggest?

  • How about garlic and ginger? I always use them in my stir frys.
Im cooking risotto tonight with LO roast chicken and tomorrow the rest of the chicken is being used for my anything rice, which is LO rice from freezer and 'anything' I have hanging about in the fridge which is usually garlic, ginger, onion, any LO meat and veggies, Mix an egg or 2 and cook into a flat omelette and then chop up into the mixed rice.
I find this a really good quick and easy dinner.
