I did a bit more of the food shuffle malarky today

From the freezer, I took out, smoked haddock, and cod fillets and some salmon fillets.
This was all poached, and divided... some broccoli, carrots and peas were added... and topped with cauliflower and potato mash, with cheese...
The results was 12 portions of fish pie :D...
I will take a couple of portions to my parents... well, just cos :o
But a good day of batch cooking, I think :D

I feel the need to do a soup thing over the weekend

If you make seperate portions of things like fish pie what do you freeze it in? Have thought about making things like that in old cottage cheese type pots and doing them upside down !

Oh dear, I've overspent. Only 2 weeks left of my challenge and I've blown the entire budget for those 2 weeks. I'd carried over €2.57 plus €10 for the next 2 weeks giving me a total of €12.57. I got a lot of food for my €12.48 but I think I will need some cheese and eggs so that will tip me over. Part of the problem was that there were really good multibuy offers on food that I needed anyway like yogurt and bread so I just couldn't resist and stocked up!:D And I got loads of whoopsied milk that's now in the freezer. Also got lots of veg, Aldi had spuds and peppers going cheap.

So I've got the makings of a huge pot of curry which will use the turkey from the freezer and some of my rice mountain. Of course lots will end up back in the freezer!

Well I'm not going to beat myself up over my big spend - I've done ok till now! I think I'll declare my challenge over now since the next proper shop I do will be the big Christmas food shop. Thank you so much for encouraging me.:T:T:T Apart from the cheese and eggs I think I've got plenty in to last me till then, till well into the New Year really!

    Have a good weekend everyone.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I buy the little tin foil trays, with lids from poundland, and freeze in that.
Then I can cook them in that, without too much of a faff :D

Next year Im going to aim for an annual budget. We have a bit of slack in our spending to allow for this- but Ive been going into overkill. I grabbit whenever I see the bargains and have heaving cupboards. I think we are spending a lot on food at the moment, but I have so much in, that hopefully I can stick to a budget in the new year.

I feel really :wall: today looking for Xmas gifts, I find this breadmaker. So I buy it, then i have to go somewhere to get the flour to use it! Popped into asda & now 20 quid lighter :wall: Oh well i guess I wont have to buy bread for a while

I use those too and sometimes can use them twice, although not with curry :D they also stack well in the freezer.

I haven't been able to use them twice...
When I cook in them, they are too difficult to clean and stay intact, if you know what I mean :o
