Gopppers - I am planning something similar but using chick peas rather than the beans and adding in some veggies from the freezer to bulk it out. Been browsing around the recipes on these threads which gave me the idea.
Means the tin of chick peas in the cupboard (for a year or more) gets used, also coconut milk (maybe as long!) and some of the freezer veggies, of course will inevitably mean that some of the cooked curry returns to the freezer as only I eat it
Also after watching Delia making sausage rolls last night, thought would do the same using 2 sausages and small bit of puff pastry in freezer and some of a discounted packet of stuffing mix to pad it out.
That will do OH for his tea on Friday as I am going to Christmas night out with pals :j
Only seem to be using up dribs and drabs but at least making slow headway.0 -
No worries guys... Ellemm, you can pretty much use any type of tinned pulse, I've used chickpeas before, flagolet (I think thats how you spell it!!) beans, blackeye bean... the list goes on, i find it quite filling and goes quite a long way...
Cheers

In answer to NualaBuala's query about the juice left over from her pears: I freeze any left over juice or syrup and then add it to home brewed wine that is fermenting. Pear juice I would oviously add to a white wine whilst rasperry, blacurrant etc I would add to a red. It makes the flavours more interesting.0

Thank you both for the suggestions. :T:T Since I've no plans to make cake or pud or even to poach fruit I think I'll freeze it till I'm making something like that in the future.
MissyChrissy, I toyed with the idea of making home brew after watching a rerun of The Good Life :rotfl: But I seem to have gone off booze so I don't think I'll bother. Although the flavours you mention do sound tempting!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Been a chaotic couple of days here. I just don't seem to have stopped at all
Anyways I've just booked my Asda delivery for Xmas on the 22nd December so I'm going to try and live on whats in until then. My freezer has space in it, but I'm hoping to fill that up with some bits and pieces and maybe some HM mince pies
January I plan on trying to loose some weight properly so I want all the chocolate & other not-so-good-for-me food goneI've even bought myself a healthy cook book (through the bookclub in work - much cheaper than the shops
:money:) and there's quite a few recipes I'm itching to try

Well its stew for us tonight as I left the SC on low- so last night when I got in- it wasnt ready ( gutted) So we shared a tin of soup and one Bakeathome baguette ( v mse) and half a pack of maltedmilks
Off out tomorrow night now, so wont need to take anything out of the freezer. We have barely eaten a thing this week- so absolutely no dent made in the stores whatsoever! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
