Overall not too bad - did buy some fish this week for the fish pie from Costco and succumbed to some more prawns (hmm!)
Used up this week out of the freezer:
1x chickpea curry portion
1x soup portion
Salmon fillets into fish pie
Peas
Chicken and Leek pie
Sausage Roll
Prawns into Stir Fry
Also used up potatoes, cheese, salad beetroot.
Tonight is leftovers and haven't decided about tomorrow (risotto I think and use up squash and cheese and stock from freezer)
Rest of frozen fish - haddock and prawns haven't decided on yet. Probably another fish pie next week. Need to try a new recipe for it as not to keen on the Nigella one.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

It's great how this thread just reminds you about something you could do. I have fresh mushrooms in the fridge and dried in the cupboard, so I might do some portions of mushroom risotto for my lunches next week, I like having a hot snack this time of year.
DH requested bolognaise for tea, so that won't make much of a hole in the freezer!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Well having a non batch cooking day today for a change :T, but will do some tomorrow.
Baked a dried fruit & nut loaf last night which used up a fair bit of the baking stuff but typically bought more- excuse is need to marzipan & ice the Christmas cake and did need more sugar.
Still managed to keep well within my grocery budget, only buying what was on the shopping list...........well OK the mini marshmallows weren't on it but will need them for Rocky Road at later date...........and I suppose I didn't really need the white chocolate either!!

HI All,
I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!
I've been shopping and spent €1.97 on milk, biscuits and crisps - what a balanced diet!:D:eek: So I still have €2.57 till next weekend - might need some bread and eggs during the week so that will cover it.
I've still got tonnes of food - plenty for dinners, it's been the snacky bits that were tricky. I've been having tuna and pasta the last few days and I'll take a 2-pack of chicken legs out of the freezer today. Will roast them together tomorrow (don't want to turn on the oven for just one) and have one with mash, veg and gravy tomorrow. The other I'll make a chicken and mushroom risotto out of on Monday - I expect I'll get a few meals out of that.
Can I ask a silly cooking question? I'll be boiling spuds, carrots and peas for tomorrow's dinner - could I do them all in the one pan so they all finish cooking at the same time? Then I could drain, pick out the spuds and mash them. I'm never sure of cooking times so I don't know how long they'd take - I tend to microwave peas and have never boiled carrots before, tend to roast or do them in soup. Although I could roast them since the oven will be on... hmmm, decisions decisions!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

The freezer audit was interesting - nine half price chickens
Friday dinner - pork steaks with cheese and mustard, with orange drizzle cake (manky orange used up)
Lunch was chips and quorn sausages that I forgot to put back in the freezer yesterday
Dinner - beef and stilton pie with bubble and squeak followed by white choc and pistachio cookies which got rid of the dregs of several things including the chewiest frying steak I have ever had that could only be eaten after 8 hours in the slow cooker. We will not be buying a beef pack from the farm shop again!
Roast chicken again tomorrow - with feta and med veg. Again using up the dregs of some opened packets and mouldering veg.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Forgot to mention the fish pie used up saffron I have had for I don't know how long! Glad as I am not that keen on the taste!
Tomorrow I am making minestrone soup to use up the cabbage in the fridge, celery and small pasta in the cupboard alongside dried beans which are going to soak overnight tonight and a parmesan rind.
Tonight I am menu planning from the stocks and a Nigella cookbook for the next week to continue to freezer clearance.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

Been naughty tonight and had take-away pizza with DD after an afternoon shopping in town for Xmas stuff, but for the first time in ages I went straight past ALL groceries in the shops:D I bought plastic cups from £1land so I can make up batches of jelly to put in my lunch and for puddings through the week
Tomorrow I need some minor things from Asda but it shouldn't be too bad - sliced bread, cheese & maybe some fruit (will check what I have first) oh and some cooked meat as DD wanted a ham sandwich today and I didn't have any in  I think I might do a stew in the slowcooker for tomorrow nights tea so that I can concentrate on whizzing around the shops for the end of the Xmas shopping  and putting the decs up :snow_grin
