I've liberated some stewing steak from the freezer for tonight's supper - the slow cooker is bubbling away and managing to use up some of the onions and carrot mountain that seems to have built up. Oh and some tinned tomatoes.....Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

Hex I think the broccoli would be fine just blanched and bagged up:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0

Well I would love a recipe for the chickpea and spinach curry BTW! Ive half a bag of spinach here- that I need to do something with- can I just freeze it ( looking rather wilty)
Tonight is rubber chicken enchiladas with boiled rice. No tortilla chips, but do have sour cream. Nice and easy as the chickens cooked just need to strip it, add peppers, mushrooms, onions and passatta and thats it done pretty much.
Im off to home bargains either today or tomorrow, so lets see what random stuff I bring back this time :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I've frozen spinach before so it's definitely possible - I poured boiling water over it, then froze it in a small pot with a drop more water over it. It was a bit watery when it came out of the freezer, which was fine for the curry I eventually put it in but wouldn't be ideal for everything, so there might be a better way of doing it than this.
I have thought of something else I can use up to make more space in my freezer - someone on another thread mentioned fish finger sandwiches () so I might use the last few that are sitting in a box in the freezer for a quick snack when I get in from my evening class tomorrow.Back after a very long break!0 -
I haven't done any shopping this week so far - might even make it to Friday which would give me a grand total of €10 to spend!:j But I may need to get milk and bread before then. I'm starting to run low on some basics (not tinned toms though!) so I'll have to check my meal planner before I spend the whole €10 on choc and crisps!:o:D
I've used up a few more tins: mushroom soup, sweetcorn, tuna added to pasta, mushrooms, garlic and onions. I crumbled stale crackers and a bit of grated cheese over the top and the result is a scrummy tuna and pasta bake.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

My supplies don't seem to be going down at all except in the fridge.
Still way too much to list here but I've just taken out a pack of whoopsied turkey slices (extra special ones reduced to 33p
) and some large garlic wraps - idea is I can grab a bag of salad from Co-op tomorrow and make wraps for tea tomorrow night
Healthy and using up some stuff. I don't tend to buy salad unless I'm planning on using it for a meal as it tends to go off. I also always buy a bag of salad leaves - may be slightly more expensive but they don't tend to end up sitting in the bottom of the fridge going soggy
Don't know what to do tomorrow for my lunch - really don't fancy sandwich & soup againCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I had a frozen baked potato with some cheese for lunch today :j I left some defrosted cheese sauce for DH and the children's tea (I had a late meeting), but DH wasn;t sure whether to use it, so it's still in the fridge
It'll need using tomorrow

Something on toast ??
I tried to use up some broccoi, sprouts and cauliflower for tea.
Boiled up all the veg, in the same pot.
Went to drain them, and seen a teeny tiny fly. Fished it out. Found another one, ect ect.
Ended up throwing the lot in the bin.
I did have more veg in the fridge, so re prepped it, super checking were the bugs came from, which turned out to be the broccoli, so that was chucked away.
I am abit annoyed about it though, as I only bought it the other day. It was only 30p in Lidl, so I bought two heads of the stuff. Both were the same :(. I think something must have gotten to them, prior to them being wrapped, as they did not look, or smell off in any way.0 -
I wouldn't have thrown it away. I expect that the tiny bugs were sterilised with all of the boiling.0

DH is going to start clucking soon. Defrosted a chicken so he could try a Jamie 0liver recipe on Monday and another defrosted to feed BIL tonight as DH wants to try his hand at making yorkshires and I didn't want to buy anything extra. Leftovers from Monday made sandwiches and curry for DH and tonights will do the same. We are finally using up some of the curry paste! I am not complaining though as this sudden interest in cooking has meant I have not made tea once this week:D
I have a confession to make:o Yesterday I bought 4 tins of toms:eek:
I have a whole swede in the fridge that is still wrapped up but bought 27th Oct. Do you think it will be OK? Our fridge is so cold a chicken wont defrost in it.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
