Store cupboard challenge

Why not? Whatever it is it's got to be better than the instant tomato soup I'm drinking.
:D (Usually I have hm soup but I've run out - I'm hoping to make a batch over the weekend.)
Mags_cat and mollythewestie - I so wish I could be that organised! Unfortunately, except when I'm at work, I tend to follow the 'first available space' method of storage, so it ain't gonna happen!
every time I defrost my inside larder fridge I sort it all out into food groups per drawer then when I hae something that needs freezing down quick I follow the "available psace method" and then can never find anything.
The theory is that only stuff that is next to use should be inside all the storage goods should be in the chest freezer in the shed, it aint happening.lol!!My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Ok, this one is fail proof, just follow the instructions.
Enjoy:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
Many thanks for this!:T
I made it on Sunday & there was enough to make one loaf & a sandwich cake. Only half a loaf left now so to say it went down well is an understatement!:rotfl:
Just a quick question. We noticed that just a few hours after they had come out of the oven, the carrot started going a greenish-black colour! Anyone any ideas what might be causing this?
I used the juice & peel of an orange instead of pineapple, no cinnamon & demerera instead of soft brown sugar, if that makes a difference?0 -
I found the 2 chicken breasts lol ..... had slipped down to the bottom of the freezer. Stir fry is back on the menu for tomorrow
.
While I was searching I also found a big bag of chicken thighs/wings and a good 2 portions of chilli con carne that I'd forgotten about so that's another 2 meals sorted :j.
Xmas cake is made (glad it's a donation otherwise it might not last until it's time to ice it ).
DH making school dinners choc cake and custard as we have 2 of kids friends round for tea so that will use up a bit more flour/cocoa ... I might have room in the cupboards/freezer by the end of the week if I carry on like this ! :T
Kimonokawaii ...... hello from a fellow newbie (waves):jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -

Of course
I even managed to by pass the 12 tins of tomatoes, because I knew I still had 3 or 4 in my cupboard:cool:.
But they did work out at 27p a tin, so if memory serves me correctly, that is a good deal... I think ... My memory is soooo pants
Tonights tea is veggie mince from the freezer.
I was going to have some mash also from the freezer.... But I just noticed that Kimonokawaii, is using up the odd veg from the fridge...
and I do have muchness of odd veg in the fridge, so I am gonna have that with the mince instead

When I get round to making it, dinner will be last nights left over spag bol
DD complained last night that the cupboards were bare and that I should go shopping:rotfl::heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
Just realised that I have only 57p left in the bank, so a storecupboard challenge is essential. Problem is that I have been so busy sorting out family problems that the last time I had a proper shop was 2 months ago!. Only had an Appr00ved F00d delivery, and just a few bits and pieces purchased here and there! So freezer has not much in it. Time to do a stock take again.! Think I will have to read this thread again. Been away too long. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

I got a few essentials from Morrisons today, then came back and made a yummy chick pea and spinach curry:p:p:pManaged to resist all the buy 1 get 2 frees cos they weren't diet friendly:D:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Tonight's dinner uses up a portion of keema (minced lamb) curry - either with rice or with tortilla wraps - not sure which at the moment.
My meat delivery arrives on Saturday and I haven't used nearly as much of the freezer contents as I had hoped. I think I might need a shoehorn to get all the meat in there! :rolleyes:Back after a very long break!0 -
Couple of quick questions:
Freezing broccoli - minute to blanch and then loose on a tray?
Sliced lemon - think I have read that I can freeze this too for using in drinks?
I am getting better at not throwing stuff away but worse for buying bargains for the freezer.

Not sure about the broccoli...
But deffo for the lemon or lime. Thats what I do. And it multitasks, cos it also acts as an ice cube till its defrosted.
I know what you mean about, not throwing stuff away, and buying more bargains for the freezer... hence, my attendance in this thread:rotfl:
