What would you do with 10 cabbages! Even with my ever emptying freezer ther would just be cabbage in it! I suppose if you were on the cabbage soup diet, but you sure would empty everywhere you went after eating 10! Gino D'Acampo would be horrified, LOL! ( he said he hated women that f*rt on I'm a celeb and won't talk to his wife for a day after she does - well it would be a quiet house here, apart from constant trumping to annoy him!)

I 'nearly' went to Mr m's today, but was a bit later out of work, it's blowing a hoolie and I really couldn't face it. Good news on the NSpend though!

My next mission is to get through till Monday when parents go (they're coming tomorrow) buying as little as possible. They like OJ and wholemeal bread for breakfast, ds has polished off the OJ. WHolemeal bread sliced in the freezer plus some more flour available. I think I can manage most stuff from the freezer/fridge/cupboards, just a bit of fresh stuff.

Anyone know if Aldi still have spuds on super6? Website still has the list for 1st November!

I’d like to join you guys for ‘December’ (from payday on Monday to payday in December), as it will be a financially tight month, so I need to keep all spending to a minimum. And I have plenty of food in.

I won’t list everything I have in, as it would go on for pages! But includes (in the freezer) over 4kg of assorted fish, 2½kg beef mince, 1½kg chicken breasts and a whole chicken, 1½kg sausages, some lamb mince & lamb chops, diced pork, stir fry steak & casserole steak.

And then there is the larder itself. 18 cans of tomatoes (definitely a candidate for tinned toms anon), 16 cans tuna, 13 cans of different types of beans plus 6 of baked beans, 10 cans of different fruits, 4 cans of condensed soup. Assorted dried beans & lentils too, and multiple types of rice, pasta, noodles etc.

There’s only me & DD, so we aren’t exactly going to starve any time soon! Makes sense to use some of it up, rather than keep spending, as going to be short of cash next month.

OK today is my Hom bargains day  Im going to try to be restrained. I am thinking about buying some more baking stuff and I might just treat myself to a food procesor today, If i can get by a debenhams theres a 25% off sale and I have 30 quids worth of vouchers from C Pulse  I also need some new tupperwares!!

Must buy some veg today, and as it is pouring, Ive brought out some Duchy ( RTC. natch!) Sausages from the freezer so it will be bangers & mash with onion gravy carots and frozen peas. Not too exciting, but today is going to be cold & wet and very very long and OH can have that on table for me no problem when I get in.

Just to say- OH did want the C& Sweetcorn soup, so I stripped the carcass and even though the dog had plenty theres another soup- sized portioin if cooked chiciken in the freezer. Theres also 2x tupperwares worth of soup to be frozen, need to create some space i nthere :D

Hope everyone has a wonderful day moneysaving :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Morning all, freezer is looking good (as in I'm using up things and freeing up space ! :j).

Weather isn't looking very good for Xmas shopping over the weekend so I'm going to stay indoors instead and have a marathon jam/chutney/jelly making session to use up the fruit in one of the small freezers. I just might be able to defrost it on Sunday then.

Tonights dinner is a bit of a mix - me and DH having chilli con carne (rather hot so kids won't eat it). DS will have leftover chicken casserole portion that I found in the freezer. DDs - hmmmm not sure yet. Will find something though :D.

I do need to pop to the butchers to get some meat later today (if it stops raining!) but I'm going to make sure I only buy what I need for the next few days. I'm planning to shop like this for the next couple of weeks so that I can make sure I only buy what I need and utilise what's in the freezer/storecupboard.

Right off to get kids ready for school ...... catch up with you all later xxx

  • It will be 4 weeks tomorrow since I have been food shopping. I have obviously been living out of my store cupboards and freezers. I don't think I realised just how much food I have. I have been trying to empty the small freezer I have in the garage to make way for Christmas fare. However, I find that when I take out some meat: a beef, lamb or pork joint, or a chicken; cook it; I then have several one person sized portions of food to freeze that takes up more space than the original meat did.

It's sort of like 'ELASTIC FOOD'.

    Morning all!

Well, I did get my fish finger sandwich last night, and remembered at the first bite why theu'd been sitting in the freezer for so long - they were 'conservation friendly' fish fingers - i.e. had hardly any fish in them! Oh well, it's one less packet in the freezer, anyway.

My meat delivery arrives tomorrow and I reckon that, even with three weeks of storecupboard challenge behind me, I shouldn't need to buy much more than fresh stuff (fruit, veg, milk etc), and maybe some tinned beans, until the new year. :D

nopot2pin - it's a bit late now, I know, but you can use cottage cheese, sprinkled with some grated parmesan, as a topping for lasagne / pasta bakes, instead of cheese sauce. It's an idea I got from a low-fat lasagne recipe - the lasagne was really quite horrible but the cottage cheese topping was nice enough that I've used it several times since.

Right. As is so often the case, I really must do some work now...:o
Back after a very long break!
