hex2 the co-op has a lot to answer for, I bought two chickens when they were half price, cooked one and froze one, I don't normally keep frozen chickens, my they do take up space and such and awkward shape, nothing balances on them.:rotfl:
My co-op also had some reduced kippers and smoked haddock the other week I bought two lots of each,:o and then there's their rather nice 'posh' sausages that pop up in the reduced section every now and again.
In my defence I did use a pack of sausages today for a casserole, so that's at least 4 inches of space I gained there.:rotfl:Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw
apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.0 -
ellemm - hope you feel better soon! Have something carby if it's an alcohol induced roughness![/QUOTE]

Ahhhhh...... toasties
I cant remember the last time I had a toastie
I think I may have to have one now...
I cant have a toastie
No bread
Ah well...
Will have bubble and squeak instead...
Mash from the freezer.... cabbage left over from yesterday
Oh... and I may open one of the many, many tins of beans that was destined for the toastie anyway :D0 -
Nothing taken out my freezer except for some onions. These got added to a lentil pate I was making which is now in my fridge
The pizza mix from my cupboard....now pizza/garlic bread bases in the freezer.
Potatoes.....turned into jacket spuds & in the freezer.
And I've also made 2 chocolate cakes in my breadmaker, one of which will be sliced and then put in the freezer :rotfl: Oh and did I mention I also have a portion of curry added as well
I'm not doing very well at all clearing stuff out it seems, but I'm hoping to start making dents this weekCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I have a very compact open shelved pantry, a table, and a 1960s sink unit so no worktops either which is just grim. We have no loft space either beciuase the hatch is tiny. I have minor palpatations everytime I get home from shopping at just where I am supposed to put stuff. We bought an old house that had had very little done since the 60's and we ran out of budget some time ago. My kitchen to be currently consists of two cubic metres of rough sawn oak and a double belfast sink (taking up valuable space in the pantry). One day it will be lovely but till then I can only over stock the freezer! If we can live from the store cupboard for a few months then I can afford some worktops and move things on a little. Before we ran out of cash I bought a lovely 900mm Rangemaster Professional Plus so it isn't all bad.
Dinner was the dregs of the fridge - so toasties for all with a variety of fillings.
Ohh a pantry well that is different, I imagined no cupboards or storage! Yes, organised and efficient seems to be the order of the day. Sounds like my last house only 1 cupboard under the sink and a pantry, but it was redone early on in the refurb! However never had a range, love my Neff though, so I am happy!0 -
Good to 'see' you Lynzpower! Been a long time since you were manically cleaning your flat and trying to exhange at the same time as me.
You too
Seems like a world away- hell we are even considering buying again now :rotfl:
Well Ive taken out 2 of the multigrain pittas and its going to be Beanburgers, Pitta, lettuce, roasted red peppers and I need to get a cabbage today as I want coleslaw. ( yum) Prob a jacket potato to go with. That will be nice I reckon.
We are decided we can definately put off this saisburys order till next week, maybe a better offer will of come out by then! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
We have a cupboard full of rarely drunk spirits & liqueurs, either duty free or gifted by relatives. Most of them have been there for years with only small quantities drunk as we're not great liqueur drinkers. Does anybody have any innovative ways of using them up without causing us to become alcoholics in the process?
Hopefully won't start you on the road to ruin, but we often pour a little bit of liqueur over ice cream, tia maria or contreau are lovely! Or if you're not driving add some to your coffee! I used to make a fruit loaf with whisky icing!
Well last week I scraped through with 9p to spare! This week, after buying a £1 loaf (which I should have made) we have £14 to last us and all the stores (which should see us through if we start on the lentils:rotfl:) Must go cancel this weeks organic box delivery as we have enough veg in freezers!
So far we have used up:-
pack soya mince
2 jars of ragu
2 tins weightwatcher soups (out of date but ok)
1 box cuppasoups
2 individual sponge puds (approved foods - so out of date)
2 chicken breasts
1 pack noodles
1 stir fry sweet and sour sauce
pack ryvita
all my store of leftover red wine! Going to have to open another bottle:j
what a pity!:D
Today I have leftover stew for lunch and will make a Soya chilli with rice for tonight, this will use up another can of kidney beans, more of the large store of soya mince (approved foods again) and yet another can of tomatoes!
I have found another tub of dried milk so will make some of that up to delay the buying of more milk.
Sorry I haven't done a list of what I do have in but just don't have the energy (I have ME/cfs)Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
