It took 20 mins tro make them ( indc cleaning the kitchen afterwards- theyll be going in after dinner as Ive got the chicken on ( we eat late here!)

Baking two things in the ovenA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Yes. Me too. It's never-ending, isn't?
I'm starting evening classes next week, though, and will need to take a decent lunch to work to keep me going until I get home, which will (hopefully) use up some of my many meal portions. Unless I fill the space up again in the meantime, of course.
I hope the baking went / is going OK, lynzpower - I love baking but I can't really do any at the moment as there's no space in my freezer to store the results. The alternative, for a one person household, is to eat all the results in one go, which isn't really a good idea.
Out of my freezer today (well, last thing last night, actually) was a pack of smoked salmon, meant for dinner tonight. Unfortunately I've had a stomach ache all day today and didn't think fish was a good idea - it'll make a nice lunch tomorrow, though, I suppose.Back after a very long break!0 -

But isn't it better the space is filled with meals rather than ingredients? Because you know they will be gone in the next couple of weeks?
CCP hope you feel better soon. I live alone and bake a lot - give loads away and make a lot of half quantities stuff and most buns keep for days. Carrot cake is ggood for up to a week as are most things. Even fairy cakes i find keep well.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Morning all, Friday at last :j and shopping tonight.
Nice pork & celery Greekish casserole out of freezer for tea. (Last 2 weeks I have treated myself to takeaway curry but have to stop that as a bit expensive )
Didn't manage to get shopping list done at work yesterday, still too busy, so planning to do on bus on way in
Getting swine flu jab at work today (work in hospital ward) so hope I feel OK over weekend
Have a happy Friday everyone0 -

That's what I was going to sayI cooked some beef and froze the leftover casserole, which took up more space than the beef  It's on my menu plan for the week after next, though, so will be an easy HM meal after work :T
I'm taking the last pork joint from my pork box out of the freezer today, to roast on Sunday. The next pork we put into the freezer should be our own little piggy :j

Hiya!
Well I think they were OK... I personally think they wouldwork better in a whole cake rather than buns, I did find them a little touch greasy- less butter next time- coffee flavour was good though, we'll have the rest tonight with custard. Half the recipe made 12 buns:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

You're right, of course - I'm just finding it a bit frustrating at the moment as I'm desperately trying to empty the freezer and keep putting more in than I'm taking out. I'll get there eventually, I'm sure.
As for the cakes, you obviously just have more will-power than I do. If the cake's there, I eat it, and the only way to keep it safe is to put it in the freezer.
Oh, and I'm feeling much better now, thank you. I'd be even better if the cat hadn't chosen 4 o'clock this morning to throw up all over my bedroom carpet - thanks, cat. The next item into my freezer will therefore be slow-roasted cat. (I'm joking, of course - he's far too old and stringy to eat.)
Back after a very long break!0 -
Hmm not doing so well with this challenge me thinks all though DH did make tea on Wed and used stuff out of the freezer. More likely because he would never go to the shop on his own rather than because he was being frugal!
Made an apple pie with a tin of apple pie filling that was truly awful. Dogs liked it though:o
I think I need to revist my meal plan as it is the tons of stuff in the cupboards I need to shift rather than the stuff in the freezer. I may post a list next week to see if you can give me some inspiration.
I must make time tomorrow to do some batch cooking or my veggies will be past it!
Dad coming for dinner on Sunday and trying to decide wether to use chicken out of freezer or buy a piece of meat. I usually cook lamb for guests but it seems to be so expensive at the mo. Feel a bit under pressure as haven't cooked anything for my dad for over 25 years.
Will do tom and lentil soup, HM bread and a peach and butterscotch upside down cake and custard/ice cream for desert which will all be out of stores.
Stuff used up this week(not much as I have been away with work)
1 quorn escallope
1 bag of scampi
Tin hot dogs
Tin corned beef
Last of spuds
Last of white bread flour
Tin of beans
My Mum has given me a bag of eating apples from her friends garden. Do you think I could stew and freeze these and use for apple cake/pie/eves pudding later? Would I need to do anything different with them?Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
