Coffee c ake is basically fairy cake/victoria sponge - flavoured with coffee

    Had a look for threads

    Coffee and walnut cake
(leave out walnuts if you dont have them!)

    Easy recipe for coffee cake

Or i have a recipe for cappucino brownies from a new baking book - which use Sr flour, baking powder, cocoa, butter and sugar and coffee. There is frosting - you dont have to make - uses white choc, butter milk and icing sugar - i would try with normal choc instead of white but i dont think you would have enough icing sugar. I can send you the recipe no prob but you dont seem to have cocoa?

What's the problem with the oven? Too hot? If so maybe set your timer 3 minutes before due to finish or something? WIth most cakes, you can tell by inserting a skewer - if it comes out clean it is ready (i use cocktail sticks he he, not very mse)

this book also has chocolate truffle torte, coffe & w cake, sachertorte and white choc coffee gateau (just looking under coffee)
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

OMG they sound great! I do have cocoa -sorry i totally forgot that

I reckon I could use the chocolate sauce its really thick for frosting ( you can stand a spoon in it)

Would love the recipe, do they take long to make?

Sounds lovely. I'm quite afraid of baking but keep meaning to have a go. I've been making note of recipes on here that I think I would dare to try.:o
Let us know how it turns out.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

They look pretty simple to be honest! Bung it all in and cook.

I can type the recipe here as it is a variation in my own words (i think) based loosely on the recipe from "the big book of baking"

    Quantity 15

    225g SR flour
    1teasp bkng powder
1tsp cocoa (plus wee bit more for dusting over the top)
225g butter softened (plus little extra for greasing)
225g golden caster sugar - (hmm not sure about splenda sugar? do you have white?)
    4 beaten eggs
3 tbsp coffee granules disolved in 2tbsp hot water - and cooled

Preheat oven to 180 degree cel
Grease a tin (suggests 11x7 inches) and line with greaseproof paper
sift flour, baking powder and cocoa into a bowl. Add butter, sugar, eggs and coffee, Beat by hand or with elec whisk - until smooth.Smooth into a tin and smooth the top with back of spoon.

Bake until 35-40 mins or until rised and firm (do the stick check - if it comes out with mix on, not cooked)

Leave in tin 10 mins, then turn onto wire rack and carefully peel paper off. Leave to cool. Put on topping when cooled, sift cocoa over and then cut.

You could use a fairy cake tin and make buns which will take less time to cook (check after 15) or make a half quantity as its first go.

    What do you think?

Nuala - just try! It's not half as hard as you think although your waist will not forgive you :rotfl:

The result was that I needed more space using food I had created than the original chicken used in the first place.

This made me smile misschrissy :D I so know that feeling too!

Oh im excited! Ok fairy cakes normally take 15 minutes so if your oven is hotter try shorter time and using the stick method. Fingers crossed I really hope they work out!! eek!:p:j Report back immediately when done! *crosses fingers*
