Oh yes, we did this yesterday too but my list is just too long to post on here lol!!!, so I've got a little book now with everything written down in there and have developed meal plans for the next 3 weeks from what we have stashed away in the freezer, and that doesn't even make a dent in half of it really!!!!

  • Well I've done my list & for such a small freezer, I'm amazed at how much stuff I've got in there! I've now got a meal plan done up till Thursday without needing to buy in anything extra.
(Also feeling really proud of myself as most of our meals will be based around leftover portions of stews/soups/casseroles that are hm & that I've frozen.:j)

    Hi

I need to get to the bottom of my small chest freezer and defrost/clean it out.

I also have a small freezer on my fridge/freezer and used to be able to manage with just this, but baking and bulk cooking and bargins put pay to this!

Sure i am not the only 1 with a freezer full of stuff.

    I have

2 bags asda `cook from frozen` chicken pieces
    1 bag aldi salmon fillets
    500g mince beef from lidl
    1 brown loaf
    brocoli
    corn on cob
    1 chicken from co op
    stir fry veg
    sliced rhubarb
    cake slices-for lunch boxes
    4 bananas
    8 pototo waffles
    10 sausages
    16 indian starters- lidl
    chopped onions
    sliced peppers

Will have to see what has fallen to the bottom!

But thats a start, looks like i go to too many supermarkets!

Going to do toad in the hole on Mon night and will have the whole chicken next sat when mil comes for tea, so thats 2 bits down.

I must keep out of the supermarket this week.

    Hi Crockpot

I have two fridge freezers - and until 1 hour ago when as a newbie MS i did my first ever inventory - i had no idea what was in the two. I am far too ashamed to list everything i have stored away:o

I am forever stashing Whoops items away in my freezer which i have bought in bulk. I need to clear the backlog and stop hoarding food. Too many years of being skint and hungry has meant that i am now overcompensating.

Please count me in - so i can get my hoarding habit stopped.

What is the question the op is asking here? I have a freezer on my fride and seperate freezer too. Am i to do an audit and post online with contents. The ex wife has been in the bottom now for some time now. Perhaps she's passed the best before date. :D

OK...I needed to update my list so here goes :

    Meat and Fish

    Sliced ham (about 5 slices)
Pollack fillets x 2 (caught this one myself!)
Tuscan meatballs in red wine sauce x 2
Southern fried chicken bits x 2
Burgers with chilli and cheese x 2
    Minted lamb chops x 3
    Chicken breast x 1
Fish fingers x 1.5 packs (BOGOF, for fish finger sarnies!)

    HM Ready meals

    Haddock Dauphinoise x 1
Soup x 3 (will take these to work this week for lunches)

    Veggies

    Peas (half bag)
    Mixed veg (quarter bag)

    Other stuff

Bagels x 6 (Costco onion bagels, nom nom nom)
Pastry x 1 (bought on a whim, no idea what to do with it)
    Pitta bread x 6
Orange juice ice lollies x 3

Right - that's easily enough for next week - only need to buy some veggies, bread &milk.

Andybez - I think the idea is to make yourself aware of what you've got lurking in the freezer so you can plan to use it up and not resort to take aways *because there's nothing to eat in the house*....!

This is a huge challenge indeed, and one I should join. I was just despairing again this evening: having taken out a good chunk of leftover venison roast, I made it into venison biriyani and now there is an even bigger container of leftover biriyani to freeze than the original package of meat was....... this happens to me all the time, I take one thing out then make it into something bigger to put back in!
I shudder at the thought of making an inventory, but yes, it should be done - you are all so right. I'm off on a week's holiday soon, but hopefully this thread is still going when I come back and then I promise to join in. Not sure I dare to publish my inventory list, though!

  • I don't have a big freezer any more. It took me three months to get to the bottom of it when we moved. But good luck, chaps!

Hi, I have just been living out of the freezer for the last month. It has been a challenge though and we did give in one night when all the kids were out and we got two pizza take aways.:rotfl: i have now got some cauliflower which for some reason nobody likes, i think i will donate it to a friend. I will have to go shopping at the end of the week as we only have two lots of meat left. Good luck everybody.

I only have a fridge freezer - so only have 2½ freezer drawers. These get virtually emptied each month as it nears payday :o

This month I have been trying to use up the leftover meals from the freezer - the kind that are enough to feed just one person.

Will go through some of it later and post my list.
