Can I join in please? I do this every January as well. Normally I do a big monthly online shop at the beginning of the month, but in Jan I don't, on the basis that there is normally so much food in the larder that it is not necessary, and I try to eke out what we have until the beginning of February. And if you look at my sig, given my performance on the Dec GC, I really need to!

So, I will do a check on what I have in as well, and do menu plans after Christmas. I will let you all know how I get on.

In the meantime, great idea, Lalaladybird, and good luck to everyone.

I can;t join in as I haven;t bought very much - I am treating it like a Sunday roast and the shop cost the same as a normal week's.

I'd like to join in please - I have bought too much as usual for Christmas and bet it will stretch and stretch. I had visitors this week and so lots of nice meals - I've frozen all the leftovers so that will help

Is this the January Grocery Challenge then? As its all very confusing as to which thread to join.

No, it's a Storecupboard challenge, so I'll merge it with that thread ;)

What a coincidence. I was just looking in my fridge and freezers the other day and thinking that I have enough food in them to last till the end of January, even without raiding the storecupboards.
I daren't join in though - that's far too dangerous round here. My month for running down the stores will start in April, after "the lambing storm", but I'll be watching eagerly meanwhile, to pick up hints from you.

I had managed to get my freezer contents quite reduced (at least compared with what they were!) - and they're now full again.

I reckon I can go through to February with just buying, vegetables, dairy, cereals and catfood/litter.

My No.1 OS resolution for 2009 - will somebody please get me barred from going into Mr A's!

I shall be semi-joining in with this. We currently have 2 f/freezers - 1 of which I want to get rid of as it defrosts itself if the weather gets frosty!! (I will look to replace it at some point, but not just yet) Also I have been 'good' this month and not bought lots of carp for Xmas - I haven't spent more than normal (so far!!!)

I had already said to hubby about using up as much as possible in Jan - although we do need shopping (such as loo rolls and sandwich fillings, let alone bread/ milk/ fruit & veg). It is my aim to run down some bulk stocks we have (and they won't get replaced, as we obviously don't use them enough to buy them in bulk again!) and the odd 'strange' item lurking around.

Whilst not fully joining in I shall be following this thread - and may post if I get desperate on what I can do with strange items!

:rudolf:Meanwhile, wishing you all have a very Merry Christmas!!!:xmassmile
