  • Hi, this site has been an inspiration to me over the last 6 months. I have done my last minute food shop this morning taking OH with me (his idea to get some good bottles of wine) Spent £68-£36 on wine

When I was putting it away I thought that given the amount in the cupboards & freezer I am going to try & eke it out until end of Jan if pos.

We are having a party on Sunday so will have to get a few bits in for that but I have already got lots of snacky bits over the last 6 weeks so hopefully wont spend more than about £15.
  • This is my aim too; I've got more than enough grocery stuff in to see us through till March I reckon, let alone February!

My exceptions will be that I get fresh fruit, veg, salad and milk delivered each week and I can't live without those but i shan't be buying tins, meat or groceries for as long as possible.

If I do run out of food I'll take to alcohol as we have 30 bottles of wine in the pantry!

A lot of my Christmas stuff lasts till February anyway. I buy reduced items and fresh food in January.

I don't think this is a store cupboard or grocery challenge, more a stretch your festive food challenge- I hope its not deleted or merged. Even though I am not joining in as such, I will happily read/post if I have anything useful/can answer any questions etc.
ETA We have been merged- wasn't too painful lol.

  • I second this OrkneyStar - I'm just going to try to use what we have in general before buying more. OH used to buy stuff nearly every day and I'd like for him to see a reduction in what he spends on groceries.

I thought we were better to wait and see how prices go after xmas... they keep telling us food prices are going down but not here they aint. In Somerfields today they had "HALF PRICE TOMATOES"... at 63p per tin ! I think not !!! So I'm waiting another week to see what to do. I can't get whoopsies so cant get down as low as you lot. (In the nicest possible way LOL) !
