As with Natwest do RBS normally search Experian aswell as I assumed they would be the same?
For some reason RBS have never searched my Experian file. I have a current account with them and they just search equifax if I apply for something.
Is it possible to see what your entitled for with RBS without doing a credit check in the branch btw?
Hows you doing NID long time no speaks. Good christmas mate?0 -
never-in-doubt wrote: »Zack - Natwest search Experian with a follow-up to equifax..... who told you they search equifax? This is their back-up supplier for additional data if Experian provides a 'null' report (i.e. something different to what you declared or what they already hold about you)
. That's a shame, I won't know until July then!
BTW is it possible for me to get another free trial, or do I have to pay for the Experian one when I get it in June?0 -
But if you select full time student as your occupation, or apply for a student product, then grants etc normally count. Either way, I expected to get to a final page, but now I know they do it as you go along so have no problem with that (well, think the rule is stupid, but know why it's declined if it works it out as I go along)
It must have changed recently then, because the maximum limit nowadays is £500, and when I asked if they'd consider putting me up to that from the £350 they gave me they said no you keep what you start with, it's only the overdraft that goes up and that's the end of it - and I've never heard of anyones Student Credit Card limit with them going up. It says they can review your limit after 4 months, but I think that's a standard thing they forgot to take out, because a few of my mates tried to get cheeky increases the other month and were told no
Haha, snap
Haha, that's true! Even when I VNC into the other laptop I don't always look at the screen, but at the VNC window on my laptop!
Hmmm, they declined me the page after I selected Student - Computer Science from the list, so they just hate students I guess. I didn't realise they checked as you went through, I was just seeing what the questions were and if I liked the look of them - if there weren't any "bad" questions I'd have gone for it, but there were bad questions (how many credit cards do you hold!) so I wasn't sure I would've applied anyway - looks like it made the choice for me!
As Natwest search Equifax I'll be told of any search soon (because of that alerting thing), so if nothing comes up for a few weeks (my last alert was about 6 days after an app I think) then it'll be a decline straight away. Wouldn't surprise me if it was on internal data given that they were using my old account, or on the fact I picked student so they saved their money and rejected on that. I doubt it's N Hunter, I put 10k on everything (and recently worked out its more like 11 but don't want to suddenly change before I get flagged up or something by them!)
Thanks anyway, will see what the letter says because they should confirm it soon
Huh they use experian however if experian has limited information they will search equifax as a plan B.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Yes mate - RBS Group as a whole search Experian first then they perform an Equifax follow-up only if they are not satisifed with what Experian send back (such as inconsistencies/adverse/links etc)....For some reason RBS have never searched my Experian file. I have a current account with them and they just search equifax if I apply for something.
Maybe at the time you applied you had baddies (you did used to didn't you?) on Experian so they went to Equifax. But generally, they will always use Experian as their primary provider. Is it possible to see what your entitled for with RBS without doing a credit check in the branch btw?

The thread for who searches who lists both of them so I thought they'd search both?

Yea that does list both because they can, search both. The purpose of Undergrounds thread is to ensure those that want to apply for something using one CRA can do so, knowing it won't search the other (or in cases search both). As RBS do search both, albeit depends on what Experian brings back, both are listed.
make sense?
It can be possible to get a trial - but its easier to just give a while and send £2 off for your statutory report - I do this every few months.
Want a free Experian request (i.e. its to get a free statutory report) - if so PM me your email address and i'll send you the .pdf. Just print, complete and send off and you'll get a free report.
Anyone else wants it, just PM me your email address. I also have one for CallCredit and Equifax but you can only get one free statutory report and I need to keep these so sorry!2010 - year of the troll

RBS do have pre approvals however they still may do an external credit check before they confirm whether they will offer you the facility.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

The statutory reports aren't allowed to be redirected though are they (like certain other official documents), so if I can only have a paper copy I'll have to try again for the online trial
Thanks for the PDF offer though0
