It could be an address issue. Have you checked your credit card statements have the exact same address that is listed on your credit report?

Are you on the electoral roll, if so, is it showing on your report?

There is no issue address wise and I am on the electoral roll.

The only thing I can think of was that I had a default on my experian file with (Lloyds Tsb) it was found to be unfair as I had not received a Default notice so they FOS helped me to get this removed, since then has been no history (loans, credit cards etc) so maybe it links to something that happened when the default was removed.

Is it possible that an error was made and thats why nobody is reporting to my experian.

Nobody is on my ignore list.

you can see from my quote on my previous post that I had just responded to a prior suggestion relating to my address, and had not yet read your post as I was reading my credit report.

I'll look for it tomorrow, hopefully it'll be there.

I found an amazing 60 inch TV in Currys today, my hand was subconsciously reaching for my wallet. :smileyhea
Haha, 60 inch!? For how much? I guess it's wall mounted if it's that big? I brought a 19" and broke it, insurance don't cover it  so I had to pay £169 for the same thing, or £254 or something for a 32", so I went for the 32", it's so much better!! When I get my own place I want to get a big one and use the 32" as my main laptop monitor :D. At the moment I already use my old laptop as streaming TV on it, it looks great, just VNC into it with my new laptop.

Oh I went through the Natwest thing earlier, and it declined me, but I didn't get to a definite "apply" phase, so I'm hoping it was a decline without searching CRAs (as I assume they have to pay to search CRAs?), that way it won't make a difference to me in what other lenders see. It was asking for income etc, I was just going through to see what questions it asked, got to one about my monthly income and other cards then pressed next and it declined, it wasn't "apply" though, just what I thought was going to the next page!

Stupid thing used my 2nd account too (which has got no money in, but is the oldest one) didn't let me switch to use what is my main account. Would it be worth appealing? I'm assuming a letter is on the way, I didn't get any kind of email though and it says appeals procedure is available in branch. I suppose I won't get it though because of the stupid rules about income, but whoever reads my appeal might miss that? :p. Did you appeal your Natwest decline btw?

I use a 32" as a main PC / back-up tv in the spare room and whilst the novelty is good it soons becomes unbearable having to look at such a big screen all day! Imagine teletext etc up close for a sustained period of time

I used to have a 50" in my lounge area, downsized to 40" cos 50 was just too big - it looked daft in comparison to the room. I have to date had a 32", 40", 42", 50" LCD and I love my 40" Samsung best :D:D

You'll get used to a particular brand/size and then stick to it - big is not always best in my opinion, as I say, I downsized and love it. :p

Natwest score you on each page mate - so basically, when you go to apply there is a check box to confirm you've read the terms etc (plus look out for the padlock - how we use your information) and this tells you that they use live scoring so in your case, after you completed step 1 (personal details) they run a check and declined you based on that.

So for that to happen, it means you need to check your credit file or CIFAS or you simply fail their criteria based on previous accounts held within the group, for example. It is purely based on personal data and records held - it is nothing to do with affordability or credit commitments.

    That much is obvious.

You need to look at your credit files and/or cifas/N Hunter - something exists that made them decline you prior to completion of an application - that is odd mate!

(If you done it after midnight then this would also do the same - only apply in office hours) - by that I mean their service goes down at like midnight and if you started the application at say 11.58 and it crossed into midnight when you clicked 'next' then you'd get declined as a system reject as they cannot score you in downtime.

They would have done a full search and this will show on both Equifax & Experian mate.

Wait until you get a letter or ring them today and speak to them and they may be able to tell you more. It could be nothing, for the same respect it could be serious.....

In fact, thinking about it maybe you're not eligible for the product applied for? Say for instance their systems show you as a student earning £5k and you apply for a bank account that requires £1000p/m paid in then at the end of page 1 when you click next, it would decline because it would have matched you to an existing account and your CRN (customer reference number) would show your salary does not meet the minimum requirements and thus decline you prior to actually allowing you to amend it on page 2 of the new application.

You should, by rights, always let your bank have the most recent details so it avoids unnecessary declines/appeals.

Hope all this makes sense and helps you get the account mate. :D

It obviously declined you as you did not meet the minumum requirements thus no need for you to complete the application.

You must provide your NatWest account number and sort code within the application, be aged 18 or over and earning at least £10,000

Natwest do not class student loans etc as earnings. You must have a salary credit into you natwest account to qualify. Banks offer student credit cards for a reason ( Relaxed criteria )

As NID said the RBS system can credit check you at any stage of the application however I think it is likely that they didn't consult the CRA as you failed the pre-requisite.

TBH the natwest student credit card does offer good increases, or used to anyway. My friend had £1500 in his final year of uni.

I dunno mate - i'd like to bet that a full search was performed. Sorry but I know RBS too well and they always do a search after step 1 :D:D
