There go my hopes of a massive increase!
So how often do they actually look at giving people another increase? If I kept maxing the account out would that make them take note any quicker? Or if I haven't had one in say 6 months if I wrote in and complained?
I don't really want to be closing the card and reopening it to force a increase, because that damages the credit score, and theres a chance I might not even be accepted again!0 -

Unfortunatly it seems that capital one only give 1 increase. After this you are VERY VERY unlikely to be offered any increases. From previous threads we have had people who have had there cap1 card for 10+years and only had one increase.
The reason cap1 give for this is they apparantly offer you the maximum credit limit possible so there cannot increase any further.
When you apply for your cap1 card they would have approved you for £200 however they initially give you £100 to confirm that you can manage your account ( No late, missed payments ) Cap1 feel that this is the maximum credit limit that they can offer as per there scorecard.

That's like me earning lots and getting a card with a 10k limit. If my situation changed, and I went to a job where I was only earning say 15k, then surely they'd be falling over themselves to reduce the limit as quickly as possible!?!? If I phoned up and said "Well you gave me 10k to start with, that's what I'm having forever" they'd laugh at me!0 -

The information that you have provided indicates that the level of credit you are currently committed to, in relation to your stated income, is higher than our present lending criteria allows.
Are they having a laugh!? It's £100 with Capital One and £350 with Natwest (Unless MBNA have approved me and given me some tasty limit, which I doubt!!)0 -

Even if MBNA did approve you, the details wouldn't be on your credit report for some weeks, so they wouldn't have a clue about that.
Odd though. At one point, I had somewhere around 8k available to me in credit limits and overdrafts and that was more than my annual income. We’ve had to remove your signature.
