Does anyone know why a search on the 23rd December 2008 is still showing on my file. Shouldn't it have gone from my credit report on the 24th?

Oh dear. Is this one of these X and 28 days things!? :(

I've seen posts before about defaults where they expire after 6 years and should be removed, but it takes (up to?) 28 extra days for the CRAs to update your file and for it to actually be removed. So they turn into 6 years and a month, searches effectively turn into 13 months etc. That better not be the case, but I suspect it is, so looks like I’m waiting until July to apply for things!!!

Its me mate that states this, what I did say though was that the (upto) 28 days is dependant upon the 'update period' so it can be anything upto 28 days but usually it's within a week if not sooner, of the 6 year mark.

By the 'update period' I mean when the system will perform a full sweep and cross reference the pre-coded rules (i.e. remove entries over 6 years old etc) - these are usually performed later at night on a weekday but have varied IME so I usually give it a week after the official removal date and find the data has gone.

Once though, it took a few weeks - dunno why to this day.

Ah cool thanks :) So a lot of my searches should still be gone by the end of May then :)

If I've got that Equifax alert thing it should email me when they go? Because when I've had searches added and the JDW added it comes up with searches/credit account has been "added/deleted" from your report, then you have to click it to see whats happened

As far as I remember, the equifax thing didn't always list when things dropped off so still worth checking every day a week after the actual official drop-off date and you'll see it update. :D

So that would mean signing up for another free trial? Because I only get 2 requests a year with Capital One. I'll just wait about 2 weeks before requesting the report I think, want to have a look through it before I reapply, see how it looks after all these repayments to Natwest, Cap 1 etc
