Maybe NIDS was different as they had a different team looking into it because of the cifas?

Homephone could be used to verify address seeing as homephones are unique to each address.
Home phone? As in the Post Office thing? Or do you just mean a landline? I understand landlines are unique, but before issuing a card they'd do all sorts of other checks (employment, DOB and of course your credit record - which will check the address you've given them links to your other accounts, hence my trouble with Aqua! etc etc) so I can't see why they need to verify you through phone as well - and the fact you can put in a work landline means it's pointless (Work landline wouldn't be in your name but they'd accept it)
Zack we had this conversation a long while ago but you can provide Vanquis with a mobile number for them to call you on ref application
Oh dear, sorry totally forgot - see what Uni has done to my brain :rotfl::o

Sorry just to clarify, ref application being a referral/appeal? So I'd need to be declined at first? How would I get past the original bit though (Last time I tried I seem to remember it wouldn't let me put anything in) or would I just put 00000 000000 and hope they either accept me (highly unlikely!) or refer me and I write in the appeal letter the (perfectly reasonable!) circumstances for me not having a home phone? Along with my mobile number of course

How long do Natpest take to replace debit cards? I took loads of cash out yesterday (don't know the codes for the other debit cards) now thinking of telling them I "lost" my card last night, but if they don't replace it by the time I run out of money I'm screwed!

    Morning now :p:)

Phoned Natwest yesterday... they said they couldn't replace my card as I couldn't remember my security answer (that I setup in 2002, freaks!) and they wouldn't take me through any additional security to let me change something I haven't used in 8 years... surely they could just ask me (as they had it on screen) the last transactions on my account like Halifax did - if I get any regular payments and how much, what the biggest payment in the last 3 months would be, roughly how much was it - how many DDs have I got setup etc....

Apparently the only way to do it was to go into "my" branch with ID - not any Natpest branch, it had to be the one I opened my account in... just the 150miles away.... they seem to think the local one wouldn't have been authorised to do it, even if I took in a passport!! Strange people!!

So I just phoned again and some bloke just said "no problem sir, the card will be with you within 3 working days!" - those lot really couldn't organise a !!!!up in a brewery!!! :rotfl:

Hi wonder if anyone can put me straight before I go HSBC I opened my Advance account & recieved my card yesterday. It is not a cheque guarantee one so do they not issue them to new customers? or did I not score high enough to get one?

Gonna pop in at some point today, but thought I would ask Moneysaving warriors in order to save me trouble!.

They only issue CGC if you request one, all cards are now printed without them as standard, however with HSBC you may not have scored highly enough - but you can ask by calling the advance banking direct on 01226 261010 :D
