Glad this has been brought up, because on my hubbie's credit files, Aqua is down as 'Halifax Card Services' When he applied the other week for an Halifax Reward a/c he said it asked if he had any of their products:rolleyes:
But he put no, as he thought it was SAV credit? So it is Halifax naughty blighters!
It's normal for them to show Halifax instead of Aqua on credit files. Its the same with me. I'd much prefer it, as Aqua is sub-prime and Halifax sounds much better.0 -
Finally managed to get my credit rating moving in the right direction from Very Poor to Fair.
I have:
Number of credit accounts (including those settled)......13 (3 active)
% of your total credit being used (excluding mortgages).......64%
Amount of outstanding debt (excluding mortgages and defaults)..£9,837
Number of accounts overdue.............0
Number of missed or late repayments in the last year......0
I have a vanquis credit card which I've had for a few years and I've got a halifax reward account too, could anyone recommend what I could do next to keep improving my rating?0 -

What about your credit searches?
If you do need to apply for credit, make sure you space out your applications, as too many in a short period of time will look like you're desperate for credit, and will weaken your credit rating in the short term.0 -
On my HSBC Gap Year account, when I click on Overdraft online, it automatically seas 'You are not eligible for a change to your overdraft', even before asking any details etc. Is this because the account hasn't been opened very long, or because this account doesn't allow you to apply for an overdraft online?
My other account allows me to go through the increase/decrease overdraft online, however that's been open for a year now.
I'm slowly switching everything to my gap year account, however I would have liked to switch my £100 overdraft from my HSBC Plus account (now being downgraded to a standard bank account then closed)... but my branch got funny when I asked them to change it and told me to come back another time when they'd get someone to 'look into it'.0 -
Probably due to the way you have run the account - money in money out each month - number of bills from it etc. Barclays do pretty much the same - pre approved offers, but they go by the way your account is run first. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

You are hard work lol - just live with the one account man! :rotfl::rotfl:
Right, the reason this happens (you mean when you click amend overdraft you get black bold font saying 'sorry - you're not eligible to increase your overdraft at the present time' or whatever?) if so this means the account is not eligible or they have blocked you from applying for credit (not the case as you stated you can amend the other account)....
With HSBC, if you were entitled to an overdraft the maximum amount will be advised when you open the account, if you refuse it and/or do not accept what they orffer then you are stuck for 6 months.
That is the way their system works.2010 - year of the troll
