    Thanks Both.

I don't have a great report to be honest. When the little one was born I just missed a load of payments and then struggled after that.

In a much better situation now though, so just want to build it. Don't think I'd get approved for a standard card, so was just wondering which sub-prime would be best.

Think I may try the aqua.
Oh ok, if you've got a better history now of paying on time etc then you could well get the likes of Cap1/Vanquis/Aqua. Good luck :)

Yep, exactly. The easiest way to increase revenue is to adjust what you get from loyal supporters - so if that means charging £50 for kids then they'll do it as even if a few complain, overall they are going to be better off

Zack, was it you who said you got an email the other day from BoC? Something Sanbox email??

    Well I just got this:

    Dear Mr Wizzy,

We are writing to advise you that you may recently have been sent a duplicate email from us in error with the heading 'Force.com Sandbox' following your online application.

This was an error on our part, and occurred during testing of our systems for business recovery purposes. It should not have been issued to you. Please delete this email if you have not already done so.

We would like to apologise for this error and any distress or inconvenience this may have caused you. We would like to assure you that we have all taken all necessary steps to ensure that this will not happen again.

    Yours sincerely,

    Costakis Demetriou
    Head of Customer Service

I got that email yesterday too.

Ah right, no idea then, I've always been fine with them after they had to send a code to the house (that I had to open and put in). Have you requested verification in that way? It seems strange you can't be verified yet I was when I was only just 18, not on the ER and had 1 credit card only!

Ah cool, was it referred or instant accept? You may get put onto progress like me if it was referred :p. I need to check my Cap1 secure messages really....

    Edit: Still pending! :(

It was referred. Not received the card yet, but it already shows on my Equifax file. £200 limit so I can expect an increase to £400 and then nothing...

No problem though. I will cancel and apply after 6 or 12 months for the progress card.

Hi seeya23, would you advise me applying for Vanquis?

I already have Aqua (£250) and Cap1 (£200). Was provisionally approved for Barclaycard initial but have received a letter today turning me down. I will appeal though.

I don't specially like Vanquis for the interest they charge. I know I am supposed to pay my balance in full, and I do, but them giving limits of £2000 or more at 59.9% APR seems like crazy to me.

An alternative could be the black diamond card which is issued by Vanquis but at an average APR of 29.9%

They are scored the same though, it's just people with high ratings tend to go for the diamond one, hence the lower APR. Whereas people with poor history tend to go for the classic card which is marketed at credit repair, and get given high APRs, hence the higher average. They can both give up to 59.9% though, so I'm going for Diamond for the fun of it when I reapply....

zack1 have you apply for a bank account with hsbc yet
  • Well,

Tried to Aqua, came back straight away with a no. Thought that was a bit weird, so thought I'd give the Vanquis a try then. Again, still a straight no. What's all that about? Surly it cant be that bad? ha.
