Did you know it's a legal requirement to be on the voters roll? This is why some creditors are tetchy about those that aren't. I was when I got my Co-Op account - only time I was approved for something without being on the voters roll was with Barclaycard but I had an account with them at the time anyway so the prospect of "Right of Offset" if I didn't pay probably offset the risk a fair amount ;)

EDIT: TO be clear - it's a legal requirement to disclose the names of all residents in a property when the local authority sent the annual update request through the mail

Yeah I know, first thing I did when I moved in here was register, he is a bit dumb when it comes to stuff like this! Not sure why Nationwide wont upgrade him though as he has over 2k in there!

he has just went to apply and it says this for Basic Bank Account with Barcays:

    Barclays Bank Account application

Opening a Barclays Bank Account is easy. There are a few things you need to know before you start. This application should take around 10 minutes and as you won't be able to save it, please complete it in one go.
    Check you can apply online:

    Please confirm:

    • You're 18 or over

    • You're not bankrupt

    • You don't have a County Court Judgement (CCJ) registered against you

    • You have a regular income or salary to pay in.

    • You're not a full time student.

    But he has a CCJ??

Yeah that's for the current account, not the cash card account!

Makes me think he applied for a Co-Op CURRENT account, not the CASH MINDER!!

EDIT: The Cash Card account with Barclays can only be applied for in branch or by post. The CashMinder from Co-Op can only be applied for on the phone. If he applied by any other means then he must have applied for a full current account.

Yes Barclays and Co-Operative both offer a Full VISA debit card on the cash card accounts. They are full authorisation cards.

There's one service Eclipse offer that is actually pretty good!

I was there when it launched and it's a reliable, comprehensive service

Don't get broadband from them though... leaves a lot to be desired ;)
